Rural Minds partnered with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and NY FarmNet to develop and launch a free online course – “Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in Rural America” – that is?designed to help veterinary students, veterinarians, and agribusiness professionals support rural mental health. In a recent article in The Post-Journal, Rural Minds Founder and Chairman Jeff Winton explained, “One of the reasons we felt this was important to do is because of our continued concern with mental illness and suicide in veterinarians, farmers and ranchers. Farmers and ranchers are twice as likely to die by suicide than other professions, and the same is true for veterinarians. Out of all healthcare related professions vets are twice as likely to commit suicide than others and one in six contemplate it at some point.” While the course has an intended audience, the majority of the content and resources found in this online course are relevant to all. The course is 60 minutes in length and allows learners to stop and start, as needed. Learn more about the course in The Post-Journal article:?https://bit.ly/3N7eBHZ.
