Leticia Wilson, M.Ed. We had a wonderful time! Thank you for your support. Looking forward to next year.
Higher Education Scholar and Practitioner I Tedx Speaker I Author I Doctoral Student I Training and Development Facilitator I Founder/CEO, Leticia Wilson Consulting
Last night, I had the profound honor of supporting my dear friend Kiwana Denson and her husband, Terry, at the Scholarship Awards Reception and the launch of the Virtual Reality (VR) RIP Current Rescue Program. It was an evening filled with hope, remembrance, and commitment to a safer future. ??We celebrated the achievements of eight remarkable Coastal Bend High School students who were awarded the Je’Sani Smith Water Scholarship, each receiving $1,200. This was made possible by the generous donations from Valero (Corpus Christi) and the Pin Oak Group. ????Je’Sani Smith was more than just a talented athlete; he was a beacon of love for life, nature, and the people around him. His passion for sports, music, and the beach was evident from an early age. Tragically, on April 11, 2019, Je’Sani was taken from us by a rip current at Whitecap Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. Though his life was cut short just eight days after his 18th birthday, Je’Sani’s legacy continues to inspire and protect others. Through the VR RIP Current Rescue Program, we’re ensuring that his love for the ocean is transformed into a tool that will save lives. ?? Call to Action ?? ?? BE A LIFESAVER?? Our mission thrives on the support of our incredible business community and individuals like you. We are always seeking donations and partnerships to further the efforts of the Je’Sani Smith Foundation. Please consider reviewing the attached information and making a contribution of any size. Your support will not only be deeply appreciated but will also stand as a testament to your commitment to water safety in our community.

?? Today is World Drowning Prevention Day ?? Every year, approximately 236,000 people lose their lives to drowning, making it one of the top ten leading causes of death for children aged one to 14. The Je'Sani Smith Foundation is named after ?? Je'Sani Smith. Je'Sani was 18 years old and two months shy of graduating high school when he was swept away by a rip ??current at one of his hometown beaches. Je'Sani was an ??athlete and a strong swimmer. This tragic event is proof that anyone can be caught in a rip current no matter how ????strong they are. Because of him, hundreds, thousands, and even millions of lives will be saved through education, awareness, and water skills training. ????To revolutionize beach safety, the Je’Sani Smith Foundation is excited to announce the launch of our Virtual-Reality Rip Current Rescue Program! This groundbreaking VR program, developed in collaboration with Hofstra University and generously supported by the Port of Corpus Christi, creates a realistic and engaging environment where participants can safely learn critical rip current survival skills. We recently partnered with the YWCA Yteens program to provide youth the opportunity to experience this VR training and learn about beach safety. "By immersing in this VR experience, participants visualize escape techniques and build muscle memory needed to break free from dangerous rip currents," says Kiwana Denson, founder and president of the Je’Sani Smith Foundation. "This training helps your body know exactly what to do to stay calm and act swiftly." Learn more about the VR Program on our website: https://lnkd.in/gBG2xNpm We look forward to more partnerships within our community to spread this vital knowledge. Let's come together to raise awareness about this silent killer and promote life-saving measures. Together, we can save lives and create safer beaches. ???? #DrowningPrevention #WorldDrowningPreventionDay #JSF #BeachSafety #RipCurrentAwareness #VirtualReality #JeSaniSmithFoundation
