“The project aims to expand the stretch of SH 286 between Weber and Staples from a single-lane road into a divided highway with two lanes in each direction. Additional improvements include frontage roads, sidewalks, and lighting upgrades. The expansion will be completed in four phases. The first phase, which began on Feb. 3, focuses on constructing southbound frontage roads, ramps, and U-turns between Weber and Staples. It will also include new traffic signals at Staples. Yorktown Boulevard Update: Yorktown Boulevard has moved into Phase 1C of construction. This phase involves installing the storm water trunk line, water and sewer improvements, and concrete paving on the north side of the road. The road was temporarily widened to the south in the previous phase to maintain 2-way traffic throughout construction. Update on Texas Avenue and Ohio Avenue, both part of the Residential Street Rebuild Program for the City of Corpus Christi. Texas Avenue is nearing completion, with the hot mix surface going down this week. Ohio Avenue is coming along as well. The next section of road is being excavated in preparation for lime treatment and base to follow. The Yorktown Boulevard project has begun. We are constructing temporary pavement throughout the project to maintain 2-way traffic as we work towards the first major phase. Existing utilities are being moved by others to clear the way for this as well. In addition to the new lanes, this project will include; curbs, gutters, sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, signage, pavement markings, traffic signals, and enhanced street lighting. Along with these surface upgrades, the project will also involve improvements to the stormwater, water, wastewater, and gas infrastructure.
