Today is National Agriculture Day, fittingly falling in the middle of National Agriculture Week, March 16–22. We take this time to recognize the hard work and dedication of farmers, dairymen and women, farm workers and everyone who keeps agriculture moving forward. Their efforts provide many of the things we rely on every day. The work on the farm never stops, yet these individuals remain committed to feeding and supporting communities across the country. This past Friday (March 7), Elite Octane celebrated a major milestone: producing its 1 billionth gallon of ethanol at its plant in Atlantic, Iowa! Since starting operations in July 2018, the facility has processed over 300 million bushels of corn from local farmers, generating high-quality ethanol, animal feed and corn oil. Hawkeye Gold, a subsidiary of JDH, is proud to handle the marketing and logistics for Elite Octane and has had the privilege of selling and shipping these billion gallons over the years. A huge congratulations to the Elite Octane team on this achievement and their continued impact on the local community, agriculture and renewable fuels!

We’re grateful for a team that works hard, seeks out new opportunities and always keeps safety at the forefront. What a fantastic first day at the Farm Show! The sun was shining, lots of squishy cows found new homes (just look at those happy faces!) and we had great conversations with attendees of all ages. Congratulations to Aaron Reid, JDH’s COO and president, on being elected chairman of the Transportation, Elevator & Grain Merchants Association (TEGMA). Aaron will serve a two-year term leading an organization that connects key players in North American grain transportation, including shippers, receivers, major rail carriers and logistics leaders. Aaron has been part of TEGMA’s board since 2017 and has served on its transportation committee since 2015. At the annual TEGMA meeting in Arizona, he delivered his inaugural address, sharing his hopes that the organization continues to expand its reach. "TEGMA is a North American trade association that brings together shippers and receivers, global grain companies, railroads, ports, storage houses, inspection agencies and others involved in the shipment of North American grain to customers all over the world. It’s a privilege to help lead such an impactful organization,” shares Aaron. Please join us in congratulating Aaron on this well-deserved leadership role!
