    JCPenney is proud to launch the?Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Design Challenge, created to give full-time students enrolled in designated Hispanic-serving colleges and universities nationwide an opportunity to showcase their creativity across our stores and online platforms. Students will have the opportunity to earn a cash prize and receive dedicated mentorship as they pursue their long-term career goals. The challenge theme, Somos: We Are, is inspired by the rich cultural tapestry of #Hispanic communities. Students are encouraged to create innovative designs that honor their cultural roots, showcase traditional elements and promote unity within the community. Challenge participants are encouraged to explore and express heritage through fashion by drawing inspiration from traditional textiles, patterns, symbols and colors and through positive and unifying messages that uplift and motivate the community. Submissions are due by November 3, 2024. The first and second place winners will be awarded scholarships, an all-expenses-paid visit to JCPenney’s headquarters in Plano, Texas, mentoring sessions with JCPenney leaders and more.     In commemoration of September 11, members of the Heroes business resource team, a diverse internal network of former active military personnel, first responders and the associates who support them, partnered with Carry The Load to support their nationwide initiative to clean headstones and improve the Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemeteries across the country. On the anniversary of this tragedy, we pause to remember all those who were impacted by the events of 9/11. Today and every day, JCPenney is grateful for the first responders who bravely answered the call 23 years ago and to those who continue to serve their communities around the country.

Khristene is a tenured design leader with nearly 25 years of experience helping brands innovate and develop creative solutions to drive transformation. She brings deep expertise across the full spectrum of creative content development, from macro trend forecasting, seasonal fashion and color trend identification to silhouette and fabric direction. She brings both a creative mindset and well-honed business acumen to the role, as well as a passion for understanding the customer and developing creative talent. Khristene’s previous roles include Vice President of Design, Apparel and Accessories at UGG, Senior Vice President of Content and Storytelling for Charlotte Russe, VP of Design for JUSTICE and Senior Vice President of Design for Old Navy. In her role, she will work closely with Merchandising and Sourcing teams to support the JCPenney brand, our teams and our customer.

    Today, JCPenney is proud to introduce Jamey Perry for JCPenney, a new limited-time collaboration created specifically for women who use wheelchairs. The exclusive collection will debut live today during #NewYorkFashionWeek at the 10th anniversary Runway of Dreams Fashion Revolution show. The collection, designed by accomplished disabled writer and athlete Jamey Perry, meets the functional needs of wheelchair users while offering stylish options for daily life, special occasions and everything in between. The collection is designed to reduce common issues women in wheelchairs experience when dressing and wearing apparel, including well-placed zippers for easy access; positioning pockets to be maximally useful to a seated person; using soft, breathable fabrics to reduce skin irritation and more. #JameyPerryforJCPenney joins the growing list of adaptive apparel brands for adults and children offered by JCPenney since 2021, including Liz Claiborne, whose adaptive line launched earlier this year, IZOD, St. John’s Bay and Thereabouts, among others.     In a recent interview with Supply Chain Dive, Chief Information Officer Sharmeelee Bala highlights JCPenney's strategic investments in technology, particularly in improving customer and associate experiences.     Yesterday, JCPenney celebrated its fourth annual Golden Rule Day in Kemmerer, WY, the site of the first-ever JCPenney store, to commemorate its long-standing partnership with the City of Kemmerer, the continued support of the Honor, Confidence, Service, Cooperation (H.C.S.C.) alumni club, and its commitment to the legacy of Mr. James Cash Penney. JCPenney’s Head of Government Affairs, Angela Marshall Hofmann, presented a donation from the JCPenney Communities Foundation to the JCPenney Homestead for their continued support of the historical site in Kemmerer. The day's events also included a historical tour of Mr. Penney’s heritage sites, a book signing by author and University of Wyoming professor David Kruger for his work, “J.C. Penney: The Man, The Store, and American Agriculture,” an H.C.S.C. alumni club reception and the dedication of a new plaque wall at the statue of Mr. James Cash Penney. For the second year in a row, a deserving citizen of the Kemmerer/Lincoln County community was honored with the Golden Rule Award.     Last weekend, JCPenney and Latinitas proudly presented “Culture is Strength” at Austin PBS in Austin, Texas. The event brought together the community with music, dance, fashion and food to celebrate the richness of cultural diversity and Latino heritage ahead of #HispanicHeritageMonth. JCPenney staged a fashion show highlighting #backtoschool and fall looks for the whole family, featuring styles from our portfolio of beloved national and private brands including the 2024 #HopeAndWonder Hispanic Heritage Month collection, Wrangler, Worthington, Ryegrass, Arizona and more. Latinitas employees, program participants, parents and volunteers, as well as Austin City Council member Jose Velasquez, served as the models, and JCPenney Beauty and Salon associates provided hair and makeup services for the event.
