Today several JCMers joined family members and friends of James C. Morriss for the dedication ceremony that was held for the new business, engineering and technology building at the Texas A&M University Texarkana. This facility has been named in honor of Mr. James C. Morriss, the founder of JCM Industries. TAMUT President Ross Alexander thanked the family of James C. Morriss for their transformative and generous support. The academic building is located on the southwest side of the university campus. The three-story facility is 50,000 square feet and connects to the existing Science & Technology Building via walkways on the second and third floors. The James C. Morriss building will feature the center for financial literacy and investment along with several lab spaces for mechanical engineering. It will also house a 225-seat auditorium for lectures and other events. A second honor during the dedication was announcing the University’s naming of the “James C. Morriss Division of Engineering.” Along with these honors, in appreciation of his involvement and commitment to the University, each year, Texas A&M Texarkana will present a student with the John Collins Mechanical Engineering "Student of the Year" award. John is the current CEO/president of JCM Industries.
