Tisch Gallery of the JCC, where artists explore the iconic motif of the open hand with five outstretched fingers, a widely prevalent symbol across visual, folk, and popular culture. The open palm has gained significance as a source of healing, good health, and fertility in numerous cultures, especially in Jewish and Muslim traditions. Viewed as an emblem of protection, fortune, and divine powers, it is frequently employed as an amulet or talisman to deflect negative energies and attract blessings and luck for the bearer. Thank you to everyone involved in our most successful Community Recycling Day this past Sunday to celebrate Earth Day ?? Here’s a snapshot of what we achieved together: ??24 volunteers spent a total of 60 hours sorting & bagging clothing donations, suitcases, textile waste & e-waste ??175 bags of gently used clothing were given to Saint Paul & Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church to be distributed to new immigrant families. ??55 suitcases were donated to B'nai Jeshurun (New York) to be distributed to unhoused immigrants who are moving to new shelters.?? ??6,000 lbs of E-waste were donated to the The Lower East Side Ecology Center? ???90 bags of textile waste were donated to Green Tree Textile Recycling
