We are thrilled to announce that JBS, in partnership with the University of Southern Maine, is the recipient of the Children’s Bureau’s (CB) cooperative agreement to establish the National Tribal Child Welfare Center for Innovation and Advancement (https://lnkd.in/gcbw44P3), CB’s primary vehicle for providing technical assistance to title IV-B and title IV-E American Indian/Alaska Native nations. The focus of this work is to assist Tribes in achieving comprehensive, long-lasting transformation that enhances the safety, stability and well-being of children, youth, and families. By honoring Indigenous ways of knowing and working collaboratively to ensure the preservation of tribal cultures, the Center will provide culturally relevant and responsive technical assistance in a variety of areas, including workforce supports, prevention programs, data management, tribal—state collaboration, and the development of tribal child welfare programs in support of federal requirements. Additional partnering organizations include L&M Policy Research, the Buder Center for American Indian Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, Three Star Government Solutions, and the National Native Children’s Trauma Center at University of Montana. This new Center builds on the excellent work of the recently completed Center for Native Child and Family Resilience (https://lnkd.in/gEPtSWFj). Special congratulations to Sonja Ulrich, Joe Walker, Shirley Cain, AJ Ernst, Brian Jones, and Kimberly Walsh!
