???? As an American, I'm grateful for the freedom and the opportunities our great nation offers us. ?? July 4th isn't just about fireworks and BBQs—it marks our Declaration of Independence, a pivotal moment in US history when we embraced liberty and unity. As someone who lives in Pennsylvania, a place so monumental in the founding of our nation, this day sits close to my heart. We get to live and work in this country, and though nothing is perfect, this is our home.? Let's celebrate our heritage and the values that make America. Wishing you all a Happy 4th of July! ???? #IndependenceDay #Gratitude #USA #American #GodBlessAmerica #jaywilliamsco

Your IQ is generally fixed, and it's true for Guys and Gals. ????♂?????♀? Your EQ However is a whole other ball of wax - and it's much more important than most people give it credit for.? ???? I'm a huge fan of EQ because it's something that every one of us has a lot of control over.. You see, this highly valuable "soft skill" is something that you can learn. - And if it feels like I say this a lot, it's because I do. Because it is that important?? Why EQ is so important? ???? ? 74% of people will not work to change their EQ (consider it your attitude and outlook about life and people)? ? High levels of EQ can ensure that you get the job more easily ? Once you get the job, EQ will help you to advance further ? People with high EQ annually earn $29,000 more than their colleagues ? 30 to 50 percent of our total marital happiness depends on it ? Emotional intelligence helps us deal with negative emotions ? Your EQ can help you improve your public image? I could go on, but I'm guessing you get the point?? Allow me to say it one more way, If you feel like you are proficient and efficient at the tasks of your job, but keep hitting roadblocks in career growth. Look no further than Your EQ.? ?? If you are a in a leadership position you'll want to read this. If you want better communication with the employees in your charge, use "What" questions versus "Why" questions.?? Let's break it down: ?? **What Questions:** Focus on facts, actions, and concrete details. "What happened?" "What do you need?" "What can we change moving forward to get a better outcome?" ?? **Why Questions:** Delve into reasons, motivations, and often cause people to defend and explain their position. "Why did you do that?" "Why were you late?" - questions like these can feel accusatory and lead to a stalemate or a bad outcome. "What Questions" are inquisitive clarify and gather information. The person feels heard and valued. "Why Questions" explore motives and emotions but can feel accusatory leading the person you are communicating with to shut down. ????? #CommunicationSkills #Questioning #Understanding Find out more about Capacity Coaching, Schedule Time with Jay - https://lnkd.in/e_TprsGW Buy the books https://lnkd.in/g9FwriGe

? I wish I didn't have to point this out but the fact is 74% of people just don't get it...?? Developing your EQ (emotional Intelligence) is more important than your IQ. Here's why: 1?? **Leadership Skills:** Developing your EQ helps you to understand the individuals on your team on a deeper level, specifically - you can get to know what they value, what they think and how they feel about you as a leader, and the organization as a whole.? 2?? **Better Decision-Making:** When you understand the emotions of yourself and others, you can make clearer, more empowered decisions in your personal and professional life. 3??**Improved Relationships:** EQ enhances your communication skills, making every interaction more deep and meaningful.? 4?? **Personal Growth:** Self-awareness and resilience are the core of emotional intelligence, Developing your EQ will empower you and your team to overcome obstacles and grow stronger together. 5?? **Stress Management:** As if we all don't have enough stress.. I hate to break it to you, people with a higher EQ handle stressful situations MUCH BETTER. The benefits to lower stress shows up in our relationships, our work performance, and our health!? So, as you lead your team, keep EQ in mind, and remember—the very thing that determines your success is 100 percent in your control. And as you grow and move forward, understand the need to factor in IQ, EQ and XQ as you build and develop your teams. #EmotionalIntelligence #EQ #PersonalGrowth #grow #values #feedback #jaywilliamsco #lead #emotionalintelligence #thisvsthat #leaveyourmark #questions #feedback?#leadership #motivation #success #business #entrepreneur #inspiration #mindset #entrepreneurship #coaching #leader #goals e #management #instagood #personaldevelopment #businessowner #coach

?? Want more meaningful conversations? ??? Then ask more open-ended questions! ?? They encourage deeper, more thoughtful responses by inviting people to share their thoughts freely. Here are 3 tips to master them: 1?? **Avoid Yes/No Traps:** Instead of "Did you enjoy the movie?", ask "What did you think of the movie?" This encourages detailed answers. 2?? **Try, Who, What, Where, When, Why, How:** These words open up conversations. For example, "How do you feel about...?" or "Why did you decide to...?" 3?? **Listen actively:** (see my recent post) Pay attention to responses and ask follow-up questions. Being genuinely interested keeps the conversation flowing and makes the person you're communicating with feel more at ease. Open-ended questions build connections and uncover insights. ?? I don't care what people think of me! --- Well that's BS... ?? (did I just say that?)? You might be able to get away with not worrying about your public image if you live in a van down by the river, but for the rest of you'll want to hear this.? One study of malpractice lawsuits showed that surgeons who spent an extra three minutes comforting and being supportive towards patients were less likely to be sued. I could go on.. The fact is, your ability to recognize the Emotions of OTHER PEOPLE and adjust your behavior according to the situation is worth its weight in gold.? This is the core of EQ and much more than your public image is can help you to build trust with important people in your personal and professional life. As experienced leaders, there is one challenge that stands out above the rest – adapting to the constantly changing landscape of the business world. One of the biggest challenges we face is leading and managing a multigenerational workforce. With millennials and Gen Z now making up a large portion of the workforce, we need understand their values, motivations, and work styles. This means adapting our leadership and management styles to meet the needs of a diverse group without sacrificing quality or productivity. It's not about forcing them to conform to our ways, but rather finding a way to become a team of individuals moving in the same direction.. People inherently want to preform their best (there is plenty of data to support this).? So as a leader ask yourself, what might I have to change to in my thinking or behaviors to lead the team to better outcomes?? I'll give you a hint here - the better you know the values and motivations of the individuals on your teams the more willing they will be to accomplish your company mission.? This is not about being perfect or having all the answers. It's being open to change, learning from mistakes, and guiding our teams towards success.

How to maximize your Emotional Intelligence ?? ? If you can identify you’re upset, but do not understand why, EQ is not maximized. If you can identify that you’re upset and understand it’s due to someone being late to a meeting, but don’t adjust your tone or behavior, you’re not maximizing EQ. (This VS That Pg 29)? The full equation of emotional intelligence looks like this: ?? 1?? You identify you’re upset because someone has shown a lack of respect by being late. 2?? You start the meeting at the scheduled time to show respect to the group who was there on time. 3?? After the meeting, you connect with the person who was late to better understand what happened and what needs to happen in the future so they can be at meetings on time. ???? You identified, understood and adjusted your behavior for the best outcome. ?? Schedule Time with Jay - https://lnkd.in/e_TprsGW Buy the book - ?https://lnkd.in/g9FwriGe

??It's easy to get caught up in our own perspective and forget about others. Great Leaders understand the importance of considering the other person's point of view. Here are 3?? tips for leaders to communicate with empathy and keep the other person's perspective in mind: ??? Put yourself in their shoes: How are they feeling about the situation? If you can't tell ask... Say something like, "It sounds like you're frustrated, do I have that right"? It's important to put yourself in your team member's shoes and try to see things from their perspective. ??? Listen actively: Much of the time people are waiting for their turn to speak, (don't do this). Active listening is understanding their perspective (not yours). Put away your phone, maintain eye contact, and truly listen to what the other person is saying. Try to understand their emotions and thoughts behind their words. ???Acknowledge their emotions: People want to know that you understand how they feel (you don't have to agree, but you do have to understand). Whether they are feeling frustrated, disappointed, or excited, let them know that you understand their feelings and would like to help them resolve this situation. Using listening skills like these will often deescalate an emotional situation and strengthen the trust between the Leader and the Team Member.? #empatheticleadership #perspectiveiskey #communicationiskey #grow #values #feedback #jaywilliamsco #lead #emotionalintelligence #thisvsthat #leaveyourmark #questions #feedback?#leadership #motivation #success #business #entrepreneur #inspiration #mindset #entrepreneurship #coaching #leader #goals #leadershipdevelopment #marketing #motivationalquotes Schedule TIme with Jay - https://lnkd.in/e_TprsGW Buy the book https://lnkd.in/g9FwriGe
