Helping social changemakers deepen their impact for a kinder, more equitable world | CEO at Javelina | Host of How to Change the World Podcast | Public Speaker
How one organization is reducing homelessness. November is National Homelessness Awareness Month. This is a time to not only acknowledge the challenges of homelessness but also to spotlight the solutions. While the news often focuses on what’s going wrong, it’s just as important to share the stories of what’s going right. Threshold, a client of Javelina, is one example of incredible, life-changing work happening at the local level. Threshold partners with property owners and operators to increase participation in affordable housing programs.? Threshold (launched by HOM, Inc.) increases the number of units available to those who need them and provides critical support to low-income earners. Their impact and reach are growing. Threshold represented just 92 housing units in 2021 to an impressive 1,648 units in 26 cities today. These numbers are more than stats—they represent lives transformed and a proven path toward solving homelessness, one community at a time. We’re honored to work with changemakers like Threshold who are driving real, tangible progress. Learn more about their work in this op-ed by HOM Inc’s Brian Petersen. This #NationalNativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we honor and acknowledge the original stewards of the lands where we live and work: In Phoenix, we honor the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) tribes, and the ancestral lands of the O’odham Jewe?. In Albuquerque, we recognize the Pueblo, Navajo (Diné), and Apache peoples. In Tucson, we acknowledge the Tohono O'odham and Pascua Yaqui peoples. In Westminster, we honor the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute Nations. We are grateful for the enduring connection Indigenous communities hold to these lands and commit to supporting and uplifting their voices and histories, today and always.
