On September 16, JASC was proud to participate in the International Day of Denver Startup Week! Our Executive Director, Claudine Locascio, and Board Member, John Hayato Branderhorst, led an insightful session titled "Understanding Japan through Business, Education & Cultural Synergy." We were honored to have the session introduced by Mr. Yoichi Mikami, Consul General of Japan in Denver. JASC looks forward to welcoming more international startups to Denver, especially those from Japan!

On September 4, 2024, Claudine Locascio, Executive Director of the Japan America Society of Colorado (JASC), received the Commendation of the Consul-General of Japan for her outstanding contributions to Japan-U.S. relations. Consul-General Yoichi Mikami hosted a beautiful ceremony at his residence in Denver, where Claudine was joined by her family, JASC President Derek Okubo, and many JASC members to celebrate this prestigious recognition. We are incredibly proud of Claudine and her dedication to promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Japan and the U.S.! ?? Our Executive Director, Claudine Locascio, attended Prime Minister Kishida Fumio's speech to the joint session of Congress last week at the invitation of Colorado Congressman Jason Crow, District 6. We encourage you to read the U.S.-Japan Joint Leaders’ Statement that was released at the end of the visit. You will see about 3/4 of the way down, this paragraph: People-to-people exchanges are the most effective way to develop the future stewards of the U.S.-Japan relationship. In this regard, we recognize the achievements of exchange programs between our two countries ..... We also recognize the important role civil society has played in strengthening the U.S.-Japan relationship over the past 170 years, including the 38 Japan-America Societies across the United States, the Asia Society, and the 29 America-Japan Societies across Japan.
