Meaningful mentorships have a lifelong impact and support young people in achieving future success. JA San Diego appreciates our incredible mentors for providing guidance and access to industry and #socialcapital to our JA Fellows students. Our Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Fellows recently had their second #mentorship session which focused on discussions around goal setting and developing new skill sets. These conversations help students understand new perspectives and receive personalized guidance as they embark on their early career journeys. #InspiringYouthwithJA #mentorship #professionaldevelopment

Early exposure to the STEM field provides students with the opportunity to learn about the range of career pathways in the field and how they can prepare to become successful in specific careers. We appreciate AnaptysBio for participating in a career panel with our JA Fellows at Chula Vista Learning Community Charter to share insights on what it is like to work in the biotech field and on their own career journeys. Thank you, Daniel Faga, Amanda Habel, and Cynthia Alexander, PhD, for taking the time to speak with our students and Life Science Cares San Diego and Alicia Quinn Kitagawa for helping to organize this career panel.

Work-based learning experiences are essential for connecting local youth to sustainable high-wage, in-demand career pathways. These opportunities help young people build critical #socialcapital and professional networks that drive long-term socioeconomic #success. Engaging youth in early #careerexploration and paid work experiences through cross-sector collaborations and public-private partnerships helps foster a robust and diverse regional talent pipeline, contributing to San Diego’s long-term #economicgrowth.
