For a Crain’s New York Business special report on the future of healthcare, JASA’s CEO, Kathryn Haslanger, authored an op-ed on reframing the approach to older adult care. As New York State’s aging population continues to surge, it’s more essential than ever that we’re delivering strong, effective care to aging New Yorkers. "The rate of homelessness among older adults has never been higher than today in NYC, and estimates show that we must build 400,000 units of affordable housing specifically for seniors by 2040 to meet our city’s needs.“ Thank you City Limits for publishing this op-ed by JASA CEO Kathryn Haslanger on the City of Yes housing proposal and the ways it could transform construction and development in New York. The need is urgent and changes to zoning laws would allow more affordable housing, like Casa Celina, to be built.
