    “Do you plan on having kids soon?” ?? I was speaking to a family member yesterday who was asked this in an interview. Yes, in 2025, this is still happening. Let’s be crystal clear: THIS QUESTION IS ILLEGAL. And it’s not the only one. Interviewers, if you’re asking these questions, you’re breaking the law: ? “How old are you?” ? “Where were you born?” ? “Are you a U.S. citizen?” (Unless legally required such as certain gov jobs) ? “What’s your religious background?” ? “Are you married?” ? “Do you have any health conditions?” ? “Have you ever been arrested?” ?? Instead of putting yourself and your company at risk, ask the right questions: ? “Are you legally authorized to work in the U.S.?” ? “Are you available to work the required schedule?” ? “Can you perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation?” These laws exist for a reason. To protect candidates from discrimination and keep hiring focused on what actually matters: skills, experience, and performance.
