This week, we hosted the "Art History – Art Future: Digital Replicas of Traditional Japanese Art" event in collaboration with the Museum Studies M.A. Program at the University of San Francisco. We looked into the digital recreation of Soga Shohaku’s Dragon and Clouds and how #technology and #art blends to help preserve artwork and connect people with different cultures. Community Event: A Noh Christmas Carol, Theatre of Yugen at NOHspace’s signature holiday production, is returning for the first time since 2019 from December 4 - 29! Victorian England is transported to Japan, set against the backdrop of its transition from the Edo to Meiji period, a time of significant societal change. Drawing on the Japanese theaters of #Noh, #Kyogen, #Kabuki, and #Butoh, this multifaceted reimagination of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol reminds us that this is the season for love, family, community, and wonder. On September 27th, we held our 38th "Award of Honor" Gala at Hotel Nikko San Francisco. This year, our Award of Honor was Koichiro Nakamura, Co-Founder and General Partner of Sozo Ventures. Our Cultural Ambassador awardee was Peanuts?, celebrating their 75th anniversary. We had a wonderful evening with our Special Musical Guest - GRAMMY?-nominated Pianist/Composer/Arranger David Benoit. During the Gala, we connected with Americans and Japanese from business, government, the arts, academia and the community.
