There’s a growing disconnect between how we educate our youth and what’s needed for success as adults. While education has evolved, the increasing complexity of today’s economy demands more. At Junior Achievement, we believe in building a solid foundation and adding the essential skills needed to help students thrive. To learn how we’re bridging the gap, read more in our latest white paper: https://bit.ly/4iiFRBe #EducationReform #YouthEmpowerment #JA

Thurgood Marshall was an American lawyer and as counsel for the NAACP, won the history making case, Brown vs Board of Education, which ended racial segregation in public schools. In 1967, he was appointed to the Supreme Court, the first African American to hold that role, where he served for 24 years. “Where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out, because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on.” - Thurgood Marshall 1908-1993 #justice?#blackhistory?#blackhistorymonth?#equality?#leaders #equality?#historymakers

Hazel Scott was a talented and celebrated jazz pianist and singer, an actor, and the first African American woman to have her own television show. During her career, she took a stand against racial prejudice at every turn; she refused to play for segregated audiences even in the Jim Crow South, demanded to be paid the same as her white counterparts in films, refused to film a scene where other Black female dancers were dressed in dirty clothes, and declined the offer to play subservient characters in movies. During the Red Scare of 1950, when many people were accused of being communist sympathizers, including Ms. Scott, she testified voluntarily against the accusations. She was blacklisted anyway so she moved to Paris though her career was never the same. Hazel Scott passed away in 1981, a true icon and trailblazer. ?? #hazelscott?#blackhistory?#icon?#trailblazer
