The artificial intelligence (AI) landscape is rapidly evolving, Our technology portfolio manager, Richard Clode, highlighted the sub sector’s enduring significance and its pivotal role in advancing computing at the recent Morgan Stanley PWM Expert Forum in Hong Kong. Richard emphasised the productivity gains generative AI brings to various industries and explained the associated investment opportunities within this innovative sector. However, he also advised caution, as intense hype often makes it difficult for the uninitiated to separate duds from genuine opportunities in AI. The Federal Reserve has begun cutting rates and China has offered up a significant stimulus package. As we move towards the final months of 2024, investors are keenly watching the horizon for what 2025 might hold, especially with the economic policies of Trump 2.0 and the repercussions of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Europe. And with adjustments in monetary policies aimed at balancing growth and inflation, we look at key themes set to shape the economy in the upcoming year, such as credit conditions, as well as the health of corporations and consumers.
