African stakeholders have been working to implement #ResponsibleAI in economic policymaking. Africa's White Paper and Continental Strategy outline the Strategic Roadmap to Africa’s AI Transformation in six pillars: 1. Human capital development for AI, emphasizing education and skills development. 2. Infrastructure and data foundations, highlighting the importance of robust physical and digital networks. 3. Creating enabling environments for AI development and deployment. 4. Fostering an AI-driven economic transformation. 5. Building sustainable partnerships across sectors and institutions. 6. Virginia joins seven other states including?Alabama,?Massachusetts,?New Jersey,?Rhode Island,?Wisconsin?and?Washington, "in launching an?Artificial Intelligence?(AI) Task Force to support policymakers and government agencies in implementing the technology," Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced. "The task force members represent state educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private corporations, each of whom will advise policymakers and state agencies to support the safe, responsible, and cost-effective adoption of AI." Pieces Technologies' generative AI tool provides "summaries of patients' conditions and treatments for hospital staff." An investigation by Mr. Paxton's office revealed that Pieces made misleading claims about the accuracy of its healthcare AI products, potentially endangering the public interest." "According to the news release, Pieces created various metrics to promote its AI tools as "highly accurate," advertising an error rate or "severe hallucination rate" of "<1 per 100,000" in its marketing efforts. Mr. Paxton's investigation concluded that these metrics were likely inaccurate and may have misled hospitals regarding the true accuracy and safety of the company's products."
