There are many in need in #California, so please choose where you will give as there is no shortage of amazing people in need who are doing brilliant work to serve their communities. My plea is for the folks at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Please consider those Mars rovers, Ingenuity, Europa Clipper, Psyche Missions, and so many more...then consider that the genius minds who have built those rovers and spacecraft now not only have to rebuild their lives but make sure that the very technological rovers and robots and spacecraft they have built stay maintained. Cold Weather and #TempsBelowFreezing had me wanting to redo the #boiling #water meets #frigid #air experiment, a useful lesson about the properties of heat and water. (JUST BE SAFE!) If all goes well, the boiling water will create a #cloud! You'll see that when the hot water hits the cold air, it will create small #contrails streaking downward! With the big pot of boiling water, you'll see a cloud, which is #condensate, or water that has quickly condensed into tiny droplets, which is the same reason you can see your breath when it’s cold outside. The smaller streaks are from condensate coming off falling water droplets — not water that has frozen midair. "The air is not quite cold enough to #freeze water immediately, which happens at about minus-42 degrees," Professor Jeff Terry said. In light of the wintry weather we are going to have today in Tennessee, I thought I'd share this video from last year! I will be repeating this experiment after a good amount of snow has fallen...stay tuned!
