We have installed a carbon measuring station for WETCOAST, a research project studying carbon capture and storage by coastal wetlands. We installed the station in the newly created nature reserve – the Hedwige-Prosperpolder. In the early 2020s, we helped turn this 465-hectare area into a thriving estuary, protecting the surrounding areas from flooding. Now, we are diving deeper into the carbon storage of these new mudflats and salt marshes. But that’s not all. We are also studying carbon capture in mangroves, the tropical cousins of salt marshes, through the AquaForest project in Ecuador’s Guayas delta. Together with Universiteit Antwerpen, KU Leuven Vrije Universiteit Brussel and De Blauwe Cluster (Blue Cluster) vzw. #worldbuilders #resilientshores #carbonstorage #climatechange #belgium #ecuador

New job for the crew of our installation vessel Les Alizés. Around the end of 2025, they will head to the east coast of Scotland to install monopile foundations for the wind farm Inch Cape. Once completed, Inch Cape should generate enough green energy to power half of all the homes in Scotland. Together with RWE and Inch Cape Offshore Limited. #worldbuilders #greenenergy #windenergy #energytransition #inchcape

Since the beginning of this year, we have been deepening the access channel to H?fn, Iceland — a crucial gateway for the local fishing industry. With winter storms causing heavy silting, keeping the channel open is essential for the transport of fish products. Between January and February, our Trist?o da Cunha and its crew braved harsh weather conditions in the channel. In the coming days, they finish their work, keeping the port accessible and ensuring safe passage for the local fishing fleet. #worldbuilders #dredgingsolutions #safewaterways #h?fn #iceland

Big news: we will contribute to a new deep-water port in Senegal. Accessible ports that are resilient to the effects of climate change are key to our global economy. With also a new container quay for the port of Valencia, and a new deep-water port in Georgia in the pipeline, we are leaving our mark on the modernization of ports worldwide. In partnership with DP World #worldbuilders #futureproofports #globaltrade #senegal #ndayane

Meet Anneleen, ICT functional analyst and a World Builder. “Most people don’t know that you can also work in ICT at Jan De Nul. Yet, it’s a great place to work. I can bike to the office every day, I have wonderful colleagues, and I learn something new every day. My first assignment was to design the FLOW approval application, an app that simplifies the approval process for invoices and purchase orders. In the meantime, the app has gone live. I was given a lot of responsibility right away, but I found great support from my colleagues and team lead.” #worldbuilders #ICT

In Nieuwpoort, Belgium, we are building a storm surge barrier that will protect the hinterland from extreme storms until 2100. One of the biggest threats to the Belgian coast and hinterland is flooding caused by severe storms. To protect the region, we are building a new storm surge barrier at the mouth of the Yser River, together with HERBOSCH-KIERE. Just before the Christmas holidays, we successfully installed two 25-ton wheel gates in the overflow canal of the barrier. These gates regulate flow velocity in the river and facilitate navigation. #jandenul #worldbuilders #HerboschKiere

New equipment for our survey team in Dubai! Together with Maritime Robotics AS, we launched the Vaquita 04, an unmanned surface vessel that allows us to access areas where conventional vessels are too large or too dangerous. Vaquita 04 will deliver precise and efficient data about the seabed to our teams in Dubai, safe and at a lower environmental impact. Those data will help us in the execution of activities like land reclamation, beach profiling and sand placement. #innovation #worldbuilders #water

Our rock installation vessel Simon Stevin reached a historic peak – or should we say ultimate low. On the Sakarya II project in Turkey, we installed rock material at a depth of approximately 1,172 m below sea level. That is about 3.5 times the height of the Eiffel Tower. Nice to know: ??Close to 100 sections of 12 m pipe pieces were assembled underneath the vessel into the fallpipe to perform the rock installation works. ??From the moment the rock material falls into the fallpipe at sea level, it takes approximately 5 minutes for it to drop on the seabed. #worldbuilders #energy #rockinstallation #Turkey

Vattenfall awarded us a contract to install inter-array cables for the offshore wind farms ‘Nordlicht 1 and 2’ in the German North Sea. We now have six subsea cable projects for offshore wind energy lined up in Germany. Discover all the details below. #worldbuilders #greenenergy #windenergy #energytransition #subseacables

In 2022, we completed France's first offshore wind farm, Saint-Nazaire, in the Bay of Biscay. We transported and installed all 80 wind turbines. Now, the wind farm powers 20% of Loire-Atlantique's electricity needs, contributing to France's goal of achieving 40% renewable energy by 2030. We pioneer in diverse renewable energy technologies, both offshore and onshore, to optimally make use of the solutions nature offers us. We also minimise our emissions to do so in the most sustainable way. We are World Builders in energy. #worldbuilders #energytransition #windenergy #subseacables #greenenergy
