After an incredible 24 years of dedication, our Controller Phil Silver is retiring. We can't thank Phil enough for his service and commitment over the years!? ? We're thrilled to welcome Michael Gundlach as our new Controller! Not only is Michael a Richmond native, but he's also a familiar face at JRN—having worked on our landscape crew during college summers. Michael graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and later earned his accounting degree?from VCU, building a strong career in accounting for construction firms along the way.? Outside of work, Michael is a proud husband to Lauren and Dad to two boys, Connor and Cooper. When he’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find him on the golf course or cheering on his favorite football teams.? ? Please join us in celebrating Phil’s retirement and welcoming Michael to the JRN family!

A special day at Virginia Tech's Hahn Horticulture Garden! Our founder Mike Hildebrand and his wife Susie had the honor of cutting the ribbon for the new Garden Marquee open-air event space. ??????? ? This year marks the Garden's 40th anniversary – a milestone close to our hearts. Mike's connection to the Hahn Garden goes back to his student days, where he learned and worked, laying the foundation for his career. Following in his footsteps, many of our current employees have also benefited from this living classroom. ? ? Recognizing the Garden's impact, both James River Nurseries as a company and Mike and Susie Hildebrand personally have contributed to support its future. The new pavilion will serve as a stunning venue for weddings and events, helping ensure the Garden's continued growth and success.? ? We're grateful to play a small part in preserving this beautiful campus destination that nurtures horticulture education and inspires future green thumbs. Here's to 40 years of growth and learning!

As a member of the Green Industry family, James River Nurseries is deeply concerned about the impact of Hurricane Helene on our colleagues and friends in North Carolina. The devastating floods have had a profound impact on many nurseries in the hills of NC and beyond, with miles of nursery stock destroyed. The full extent of the damage is still unknown.? ? Our own Eric Schlosser, a native of Asheville, is taking action by heading to the affected area with a van full of supplies, generously donated by James River Nurseries Barrow’s Tree Service, and @commonwealth_landcare. These supplies will be distributed to those most in need at ground zero.? ? We at James River Nurseries want to assure everyone in the affected areas that the entire Green Industry stands with you. We're all in this together, and we're committed to supporting the recovery efforts in any way we can.? ? If you'd like to contribute to the relief efforts, locals recommend supporting these two outstanding local organizations:? ? MANNA FoodBank: A longstanding organization serving the broader Western North Carolina community. Their facility was severely flooded, but they continue to make a significant impact.? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/edZ2KeVh? ? Beloved Asheville: A local charity group providing a wide range of support services, including food distribution, home repair, and home building for underprivileged residents in the Asheville area.? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eZbEZTwV? ? Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster. Let's come together as an industry and a community to support our friends and colleagues affected by Hurricane Helene.
