As a member of the Green Industry family, James River Nurseries is deeply concerned about the impact of Hurricane Helene on our colleagues and friends in North Carolina. The devastating floods have had a profound impact on many nurseries in the hills of NC and beyond, with miles of nursery stock destroyed. The full extent of the damage is still unknown.? ? Our own Eric Schlosser, a native of Asheville, is taking action by heading to the affected area with a van full of supplies, generously donated by James River Nurseries Barrow’s Tree Service, and @commonwealth_landcare. These supplies will be distributed to those most in need at ground zero.? ? We at James River Nurseries want to assure everyone in the affected areas that the entire Green Industry stands with you. We're all in this together, and we're committed to supporting the recovery efforts in any way we can.? ? If you'd like to contribute to the relief efforts, locals recommend supporting these two outstanding local organizations:? ? MANNA FoodBank: A longstanding organization serving the broader Western North Carolina community. Their facility was severely flooded, but they continue to make a significant impact.? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/edZ2KeVh? ? Beloved Asheville: A local charity group providing a wide range of support services, including food distribution, home repair, and home building for underprivileged residents in the Asheville area.? Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eZbEZTwV? ? Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster. Let's come together as an industry and a community to support our friends and colleagues affected by Hurricane Helene.

Check out these in-progress shots of the Lutron Employee Park! We’re thrilled to be working alongside @JLL and @lutronelectronics on this exciting project at their new distribution center in Ashland. Our team is consulting on design elements for pathways, terracing, and plantings. Currently, our team is hard at work installing lush plantings, a paver terrace, and a river rock drainage swale to create both beauty and functionality. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative space!

Wrapping up summer with a visit to the LaCross Botanical Gardens at The Forum Hotel, (Formerly the Inn at Darden) and we couldn’t be more excited about how this space has flourished! From the trees and plants to the bluestone elements, everything reflects the timeless style of Thomas Jefferson. We're especially thrilled to see how The Fountain Gardens are thriving, and we’re so proud to see how this project has come together. James River Nurseries had the privilege of transforming a stunning residence at Bundoran Farm in Albemarle County. This preservation development, just 15 minutes from Charlottesville, spans 2,300 acres of pastures, orchards, and even a managed forest. Known for its traditional architectural style and large, private homesites, Bundoran Farm beautifully blends nature and home. We’re proud to have played a part in enhancing its agrarian charm! ???

?? Teamwork in action at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens! ?? Last week, our crew, with the expert assistance of our favorite engineer, Scot, we took a deep dive—literally!—into assessing areas where we can install dry wells to tackle standing water issues around the gardens. Scot’s expertise was invaluable as we uncovered a 2-foot thick layer of clay, about 3 feet deep, that’s been causing most of the drainage problems. But there's good news! We found sand and rock at around 5 feet deep that will help with water absorption. ? ? Thanks to Scot's findings, we can now design and size the appropriate solutions to resolve these issues effectively. We love working collaboratively with experts to ensure our work is the best it can be and our clients are happy with the end result! Thanks so much with the assist, Scot! ????

??Sustainable Product Highlight??? ? ?? At the new Coalfield Reserve Apartments in Midlothian, our team used Envirobond Organic-Lock to create beautiful and functional pathways. This organic aggregate binder is perfect for crushed aggregate paving, offering a permeable, natural-looking surface that reduces erosion and remains wheelchair accessible. ?? ? Envirobond's 100% naturally occurring materials are not only eco-friendly but are also resistant to erosion and weed growth, making it the ideal solution for sustainable landscapes. We updated an underutilized greenfield site, once limited by wetlands into an inviting outdoor environment that balances aesthetics with accessibility. We couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! ?????
