After working tirelessly and perseveringly for 45 years, I realized… I lost myself. In search of success and sustainability in the market vicinity, we often forget who we are. This happened to me when we were building Jaipur Rugs and staked our health more than often. Soon I realized I did not feel myself, having a feeling of being lost. And then one day I was about to fall on the toilet floor when my wife pulled me out. That was the moment when I cared nothing beyond my health and well-being. We often chase material things but what truly stays with us is our healthy body. Subsequently, a good diet and yoga have become a prudent part of my life. From about to fall on the floor to standing with good physical and mental health now, It’s been a long journey that I still walk on. One of the major contributions of this journey is Organic Diet, where I completely rely on raw veggies and fruits (more on this later). I am a firm believer in natural essentials and promoted the same when our Jaipur Living family from the US visited our head office. We were overjoyed to have them on their ‘Back to Our Roots’ Program and while having lunch, organic foods conversation emerged and I cannot help highlighting its rooted benefits. Here our JR Farms also joined the conversation, sharing how we are proliferating the message of eating healthy starting from our organization. Generally, workers are not treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. No one can match the kind of work they do. When I started back in 1978, the artisans were ill-treated and harassed by the contractors. We believe they are the foundation of a business, if we fail to treat them well, what are we even doing? The government has taken many steps to change the situation through rules and regulations, but the situation is still tough. For us, they are artisans, no one can match their hard work and dedication; they manage both their house and children along with weaving passionately. They are artists who weave heartwarming stories in their carpets. Their health and environment also come under our responsibility to look after. I am happy to share that we received the ‘SA8000 Certificate’, which speaks about our artisans’ healthy working conditions. The certificate is proof of the good work they do in return for our care. Respecting every person who plays a significant role in business growth is essential. Let’s celebrate them and their work together!
