A survey recently taken by Consumer Affairs ranked Arizona last in public education. At JAG, we're changing that! JAG students have a high school graduation rate of 99%, compared to the state's average of 78%. We believe all students deserve the opportunity to succeed in education, employment and life. Another successful Leadership Development Conference is in the books! Yesterday, more than 160 students from across the state gathered at Phoenix College to share their goals and ambitions for the year. Yesterday I had the lovely experience of attending my second Jobs For Arizona's Graduates Leadership Development Conference as an Americorps Vista working with Shontel Dixon Mulato as a Career Specialist! At yesterday’s conference, I worked hand in hand with Shontel and JAG staff welcoming over 160+ Arizona middle and high school students to Phoenix College to experience workshops and a employer partner fair that strengthens their future opportunities. My role at the LDC was leading a guide for career development students/leaders to be a point-in-contact for needed employer engagement in their classrooms. This can look like JAG employeer partners presenting in their schools, student job shadowing, & one-one coaching. It was lovely to get to answer student’s questions and be a person of guidance alongside Shontel’s incredible energy! Students left the workshop inspired and feeling like the details were clear and easily understandable! This clear understanding is what we strive to reach for in Jobs For Arizona's Graduates! Thank you to the students who attended and JAG for this opportunity.
