Happy Women's History Month! Meet Coco Chanel, iconic fashion designer who gave us the little black dress. ?? As the founder and namesake of the Chanel brand, Coco Chanel is known for her enduring influence on fashion. As with many successful business leaders and revolutionary figures, Coco faced potentially insurmountable obstacles but changed the world. Born to a poor family in 1883 as Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, Coco learned to sew at a convent's orphanage where she lived after her mother died when Coco was 11. She then became a seamstress and also performed in a cabaret where she took on the name "Coco." After being introduced into high society, she began designing hats and opened her own boutique in Paris. Coco's fashion career began a meteoric rise, leading to her couture house. During World War II, her business closed which she reopened in Paris in 1954. In the years that followed, Coco Chanel expanded her couture business and created a sporty, fashionable feminine standard of style. Known for her interlocking double "C" logo, Chanel No. 5 perfume and the little black dress, Coco Chanel was the only fashion designer on Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. #WomensHistoryMonth #JacobsonInsurance #BusinessInsurance #RiskManagement

Happy Women's History Month! Meet Cathy Hughes, the first African-American woman to head a publicly traded corporation. ??It all started with a single radio station and expanded to become Radio One/Urban One, a multi-platform media empire that amplifies Black voices and stories. Cathy had worked her way up in the broadcast industry and successfully grew the Howard University radio station's revenue from $250,000 to $3 million in her first year. Two years later, she became the station's General Manager and created a revolutionary radio format, "Quiet Storm," which expanded to 480 stations nationwide. Throughout the growth of her media empire, Cathy faced difficulties and setbacks but continued to innovate and grow. In fact, Ernst & Young named her Entrepreneur of the Year. She even has an unofficial corner in Washington, D.C., named "Cathy Hughes Corner." Source: Wikipedia #WomensHistoryMonth #JacobsonInsurance #BusinessInsurance #RiskManagement

Happy Women's History Month! Meet Brownie Wise, credited with Tupperware's success after implementing her innovative "Party Plan" marketing strategy. From executive secretary to revolutionary marketing pioneer, Brownie Wise transformed how everyday products were sold in the mid-1900s. Before Tupperware became a household name, Brownie worked as a salesperson for Stanley Home Products and wrote columns under the pen name "Hibiscus", demonstrating her versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. When traditional corporate doors closed in her face - with one male executive telling her management was "no place for a woman" - Brownie didn't just knock; she built her own door. She pioneered the home party sales model for Tupperware, turning product demonstrations into social events. Her innovative approach was so successful that by 1949, she had sold over $150,000 in Tupperware and was personally invited by Earl Tupper to become vice president of Tupperware Home Parties. In 1954, Brownie became the first woman to grace the cover of BusinessWeek, hosting legendary annual Tupperware Jubilee conferences that celebrated top saleswomen with extravagant themes and prizes. She created a community, empowered women entrepreneurs, and rewrote the rules of marketing - proving that with creativity and determination, barriers are meant to be shattered. ?? The FBI is now warning about the 'Ghost' ransomware cybercriminal group that has attacked critical infrastructure in more than 70 countries. Since 2021, Ghost has been targeting organizations worldwide, making it one of the top ransomware groups. Ransomware attacks usually use phishing emails or texts to entice victims to click on a link and install malware on their device. The cybercriminal can then access private data and use it to ransom large payments from the victim. To prevent falling victim to these attacks, the FBI recommends that businesses and organizations "maintain regular system backups of sensitive information, patch known system vulnerabilities with security updates and use phishing-resistant multifactor authentication for company email accounts." Happy Women's History Month! Meet Olive Ann Beech, aka the "First Lady of Aviation." ?? In 1932, Olive co-founded Beech Aircraft Corporation with her husband and took over as president upon his death in 1950. Later, she became the company's chairwoman, and under her leadership, Beech Aircraft became a major player in the aviation industry, producing both military and civilian aircraft. Olive earned more awards, honorary appointments, and special citations than any other woman in aviation history, including induction into the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Olive lived by the philosophy, "If you want something, you can do it.” ?? Source: Wikipedia #WomensHistoryMonth #JacobsonInsurance #BusinessInsurance #RiskManagement
