Enjoyed a few days in sunny Palm Springs at the 2025 SMPS Pacific Regional Conference with 500+ other AEC marketing professionals! Being the solo marketer at my firm, SMPS plays a huge role in my career development, and PRC provided fresh insight and new perspectives I can bring back to my team. Part of my conference attendance this year was covered by the Continuing Education Scholarship I was awarded through the SMPS Seattle Chapter, and I’m very thankful for their ongoing support of my professional growth. ?? Image: As visitors and students pass through the community yard and over a rain garden bridge, they can wind their way through a native plant garden and herb garden with educational signage as well as a series of community agricultural planters and seating areas. Whether students are on their way to the athletic fields or neighbors are gathering for a weekend birthday, the landscape at Olympic View K-8 holds open arms for a multiplicity of educational and community uses for years to come. We are thrilled to announce that Olympic View K-8 School has been awarded Learning By Design Magazine’s prestigious Grand Prize for projects under 100,000 square feet. This 64,000-square-foot school in Federal Way, Washington, combines a middle and elementary school to create smaller learning communities focused on equity and inclusion. Designed with extensive community input, it includes a “community pavilion” offering resources like a family liaison, counselor, laundry, shower, and food pantry to support the local low-income neighborhood. The school emphasizes whole-child development, social-emotional learning, and STEAM education, with classrooms that promote student self-expression. Cultural role models, murals, and a central pavilion tree with messages in over 45 languages reflect the diverse community.
