Jacobsen's project team and USU veterinary educators recently celebrated placing the final steel beam on this 106,000-square-foot facility. When complete in Summer 2026, it will be Utah’s first four-year veterinary college, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, labs and faculty spaces. ICYMI: The southwest corner of Temple Square has been opened to the public — meaning the full west side of the temple campus is now accessible to visitors! Finish work is also moving ahead for the baptismal fonts and sealing (marriage) rooms in the temple's north addition. And within the historic temple, there is ongoing finish work in the celestial room; this area had required abatement earlier in the project to remove lead-based paint. Leyla Pacheco joined Jacobsen in 2024 after several years on the architecture side of the A/E/C industry. Since then, what she has enjoyed the most about construction is "the opportunity to get a 360-degree view of the full lifetime of a project." Olysia Johnson chose a career in construction for the unique range of experiences it offered her as a professional, and for the chance to do work for clients who are shaping our communities. "I grew up doing construction work with my dad, whether it was flipping houses or doing home renovations," said Olysia, a preconstruction assistant. "Not once did I think a career in construction was only meant for men. Jennifer Allen, who has been with Jacobsen since 2014, says what she loves most about being in the construction industry is “the tangible sense of achievement.” “As a child, I would ride around with my grandfathers and father, listening to their stories about the buildings they helped create.
