We're thrilled to welcome JBFC Founder Stephen Apkon next week for a preview/work-in-progress screening of his new documentary, a follow up to the award-winning DISTURBING THE PEACE (2016). While DISTURBING THE PEACE focused on questioning the narrative we are born into, THERE IS ANOTHER WAY is about choosing our future. THERE IS ANOTHER WAY tells the story of a group of visionaries who refuse to surrender to violence and injustice, and in doing so show that another path is possible—for them, for us, and for all humanity. Combatants for Peace, nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes, is an extraordinary bi-national group of former enemy combatants—Israelis and Palestinians—working together during an ongoing armed conflict. Faced with escalating devastation and violence, the very core of the movement must face great challenges and show that there is another way. But first they must confront their own beliefs: is this even possible? Don't miss a one-night-only preview/work-in-progress screening of THERE IS ANOTHER WAY #AtTheJBFC on Monday, Nov. 4 at 8:00, followed by a live Q&A with Director Stephen Apkon, Producers Marcina Hale & Keaton Cristobal, and Editor Sean Gallagher ??? https://lnkd.in/eqxy8ha4

The JBFC's Igniting Film and Education Celebration took place on Monday, Sept. 16. The celebration kicked off with a welcoming cocktail reception at the Media Arts Lab before the festivities moved across the street to the Theater, where attendees enjoyed the evening's program followed by a lively dinner. The event included a celebration of David Swope Leadership Award recipients Heidi and Richard Rieger, Actor/Vision Award recipient Stephen Lang, and a surprise New Lens Award presentation to JBFC education alums/current staff members Detroit Hamell and Cassidy McKenna. All proceeds from the evening will help sustain and enhance the JBFC's vibrant film and education programs. Our endless thanks and gratitude goes out to the JBFC community, and all who helped make the event such a success—we truly couldn't do it without you! ?? by Lynda Shenkman
