关于我们
OVERVIEW ? The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit biomedical research institution founded in 1929 in Bar Harbor, Maine. ? Our mission is to discover precise genomic solutions for disease and empower the global biomedical community in the shared quest to improve human health. ? We are a global team of nearly 3,000 people at 11 locations in Maine, Connecticut, California, Japan and China, and in remote locations around the world. ? With a 2023 operating budget of $628M, JAX has substantial impact on our local communities. RESEARCH ? With more than 60 faculty members, our diverse and multidisciplinary research programs include the National Cancer Institute-designated JAX Cancer Center, as well as coordinated research centers focused on addiction, aging, Alzheimer’s and dementias, genomics and computational biology, precision genetics and rare disease. ? JAX has had a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center since 1983, and is one of only seven institutes in the United States that has received this designation for its contributions to basic cancer research. ? Our researchers have made significant contributions to medical progress, including bone marrow and organ transplants, stem cell therapies and in vitro fertilization. EDUCATION ? We offer comprehensive educational programs for scientists throughout their careers, from high school students and teachers, to researchers at all experience levels, and for clinical providers interested in incorporating genetics and genomics into their practices. RESOURCES ? Over 2,400 organizations in 68 countries rely on over 13,000 strains of genetically-specialized JAX? Mice and research services in a wide range of therapeutic areas. ? Our Mouse Genome Informatics database is the world’s source for information on mouse genetics and biology.

JAX’s Elise Courtois and Jasmina Kuljancic, alongside UConn Health's Danielle Luciano, welcomed Connecticut Public's Michayla Savitt to the JAX Farmington, Conn. campus in August to discuss the impact they're making to improve the lives of people living with endometriosis. Courtois and Luciano co-direct EndoRISE, a JAX, UConn and Connecticut state collaboration that has created the CT endometriosis biorepository – the nation's first public, multi-institution biorepository of its kind. ??? Listen to the 4:42-minute audio segment and read the feature story: https://lnkd.in/eRRBY9tD ??? Visit www.jax.org/endo for more on endometriosis research at JAX.

Summer 2024 Intern Spotlight - Emma Hussey! This summer, we were fortunate to have Emma Hussey join the MCGI team through her internship experience at Colby College. During her time with us, Emma played a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our Genomic Tumor Board (GTB) session series. She collaborated closely with various team members to design, archive, and implement a new data entry structure, improving the organization and accessibility of our administrative session data. Emma’s attention to detail and innovative approach helped streamline our processes, significantly reducing the time spent on data entry and creating a centralized reference point, eliminating the need for multiple sources. Thank you, Emma, for your hard work and dedication this summer! We’re excited to see all the great things you’ll accomplish in the future. The Jackson Laboratory

????Congratulations to Jennifer SanMiguel, Ph.D., a lead scientist in the JAX Rare Disease Translational Center, who received a Patient First Scientist Award at Casey McPherson's 2024 Rose Gala in honor of her work with the To Cure a Rose Foundation. SanMiguel has developed multiple humanized HNRNPH2 mouse models representing variants in the X-linked HNRNPH2 gene that cause a rare, neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by intellectual disability, developmental delay, motor function, and seizures in some patients. She leads the preclinical portfolio focused on antisense oligonucleotide knockdown of the HNRNPH2 gene and evaluating safety, dose ranging, and molecular and behavioral efficacy of the compounds. In collaboration with colleagues at Everlum Bio, this work will support the clinical development of a lead therapeutic for HNRNPH2 neurodevelopmental disorder. ??
