This award recognizes her extraordinary leadership and advocacy in healthcare, particularly in the field of sexual violence and survivor support. As medical director of Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center, Dr. Oriental-Pierre provides critical care to patients in their most vulnerable moments, including survivors of sexual assault. Beyond treating their immediate medical needs, she is committed to ensuring they receive compassionate support and access to resources that help them begin the healing process. We congratulate Dr. Oriental-Pierre on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for her commitment to providing care that changes lives.

We are proud to announce that Dr. Dileep Yavagal, director of interventional neurology and co-director of endovascular neurosurgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, and a leader in stroke care, has been named a finalist for the 2025 National AHA/ASA Stroke Hero Award?for his work expanding access to life-saving stroke treatment. Dr. Yavagal has dedicated his career to making sure more people get the stroke care they need, no matter where they live. He has helped improve access to thrombectomy, a procedure that removes blood clots from the brain to prevent serious damage after a stroke. He has also led efforts to bring better stroke care to hospitals in underserved communities, helped develop international stroke treatment guidelines, and advocated for better care worldwide. ? A stroke can happen to anyone, and getting the right treatment quickly can save lives and prevent serious complications.
