Ground is officially broken on the Northern Gulf Aquatic Food Research Center! This facility is meeting a critical need in the seafood industry and helping pave the way for an industry that contributes more than $300 million to our economy. We are grateful to be part of this game changing project!

JCEDF had the honor of hosting the grounding breaking for MSU's Northern Gulf Aquatic Seafood Lab, a first-of-its-kind facility that will focus on aquatic food safety, quality assessment, and processing and product development. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3F8iHPb

The diversification of the manufacturing industry aligns with the goals of Jackson County's 5-year strategic innovation plan, which recommends a mixed economy for future growth. Manufacturing not only employs craftsworkers, but also creates jobs for other professionals, including engineers. Through innovative partnerships, Jackson Countians can earn an engineering degree locally at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College & Bagley College of Engineering.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re focusing on #healthcare and its impact on our community. Did you know healthcare is Jackson County’s second-largest industry, with Singing River Health System as one of the largest employers on the MS Gulf Coast? We’re grateful for their contributions to economic development and the specialized services they provide to the community.

February is National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and, as the most industrialized county in Mississippi, we know firsthand how critical these programs are to creating the talent pipeline of tomorrow. From Pascagoula-Gautier’s College and Career Technical Institute (CCTI), the largest of its kind in the state; to Jackson County School District building 2 new CTE facilities to meet student demand; to districts like Moss Point and Ocean Springs offering courses in innovative, growing industries like aquaculture, CTE in Jackson County reflects local hiring needs and is an important piece of our workforce development strategy. #JacksonCountyskills
