Hey Kids and Parents (and Aunts, Uncles and anyone!) The Jackalope Jalopy Design contest is underway and we’ve made some new rules and changes! We now have 3 age categories: High School: 14-18 Junior High: 11-13 Elementary School: 5-10 The design contest - to create a whimsical looking steampunk western vehicle that will serve as our very own Jackalope Jim’s Paddy Wagon! The Design Criteria: The vehicle must be based on a 1990’s Mitsubishi Delica L300 van (the one in the pictures). The vehicle must feature the Jackalope Junction logo and Sheriff Badge (included for reference). The vehicle must use steampunk and old west elements - nothing from the original vehicle, aside from markings, will be removed. You can add anything that will transform the van - Like making the wheels look like wagon wheels instead of the metal rims. It has to be fun, inviting, whimsical, our lots of brass, copper, gears, a smokestack, anything that says “Steampunk Western”. It can even have wood siding. The top must feature a hidden energy weapon of some sort, that Jim and his deputies can use to defeat hordes of bad guys! Rules: One winning drawing will be selected from each age category. No AI. Drawings must be completely original. Drawings can be computer, or hand drawn illustrations, or even with crayons (for the little ones). No submissions will be accepted after the deadline of 11:59pm, November 30, 2024 All submissions will receive a set of Jackalope Junction stickers- 1 of each logo and 1 of Jackalope Jim, as well as 1 enamel collectors pin. All submissions are only eligible within the continental US. Winners will receive one Jackalope Junction Honorary Town Founder certificate and they will have a lifetime free admission to Jackalope Junction once it’s built and open to the public. Submissions: Send submissions to: [email protected] Include: Name Age Email Home Address Home Phone Number Name of Parents Deadline is November 30, 2024 before midnight Pacific Time. Winners will be announced December 14th, 2024. Winning drawings will then be used to transform the van into the “Jackalope Jalopy”, which will go to schools, cons, car shows, and be featured on our streaming series as well as in the park, and we will bring it to your town as well! So what are you waiting for! Get those creative juices flowing and let’s see what everyone can come up with! Greg Schumsky, Creator of Jackalope Junction

“As a more famous theme park company is deciding to get rid of one of its more beloved “attractions”, ie the shooting gallery/arcade in its Frontierland in lieu of a new lounge for its Vacation Club members, which I think was one of the things that made that park “different”, because they had things that weren’t necessarily rides or shops, but just good old fashioned fun activities the whole family could do. But then this opens the door for guests to want to come to Jackalope Junction , because it’s not going to be anything like any other theme park in existence - in my mind at least. One idea I’ve had since the I first had the idea for the park, was installing a park wide shooting gallery, after a discussion with Josh Combs , who at the time was (and still is) working for Daniels Wood Land, Inc./DWL Studios, who makes some pretty fun shooting arcades. As cool as those are, I wanted something BIGGER. So I had the crazy idea of creating a thing I call our “Deputy Sheriff School”, where guests can purchase one of our steampunk sci-fi ray guns, and then once signed up, will be able to shoot targets all throughout the park - even in various rides, gathering points throughout the day (extra points for hitting our bad guys, the Slippery Slope Gang whenever you may run into them). At the end of one’s day, a guest can then go back to the Sheriff’s office, and see how they fared, as well as receive their own official Deputy badge. A photo will be taken as well, and posted on a digital “Deputies of Jackalope Junction” board, and each year on that person’s birthday, we’ll send them some form of a small birthday gift. And being digital, when that young person comes back so many years later with their spouse and kids, they can pull up their photo to show them. The hope is that will make their kids want to join, and it becomes then a family tradition. It’s about creating and building things that our guests can do so form wonderful memories. From this, to mining for gems, enjoying quiet time in one of our picnic areas, getting “arrested” and then bailed out (where the monies from that go to a children’s charity), or just going on one’s own adventure to discover the mystery of our mine caves. It’s about letting kids just be kids. And that’s one of many things that will make Jackalope Junction different than anything you’ve ever experienced so far. “ - Greg Schumsky, Creator of Jackalope Junction
