It's Fire Recall Friday! Ford is issuing a?recall?for more than 30,000 luxury vehicles for an increased fire risk. The recall includes certain 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator vehicles with LED logo lights on the exterior mirrors. According to the?National Highway Administration, these lights may short circuit and cause a fire. While several incidents have been reported of these exterior mirrors catching fire, no injuries or accidents have been as of March 2025. In September 2024, Ford was notified of an incident in Canada regarding a July notification involving a fire on the exterior mirror assembly on a 2017 Lincoln Navigator,?NHTSA documents show. Ford’s Automotive Safety Office also found another incident report dating back to February 2020 stating a driver side mirror caught fire when the owner remotely started the vehicle. It's Fire Recall Friday! Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is Recalling Certain 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul Vehicles Due to Fire Hazard. The piston oil rings may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in damage to the engine. Engine damage can cause a vehicle stall or fire. Dealers will inspect and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. Dealers will also install piston-ring noise sensing system (PNSS) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 4, 2025. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC336. This morning, our Field Operations Manager, Josh Plummer, CFI, CFEI, CVFI, received the Investigator of The Year Award from the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention (FACAP), presented to him by FACAP board member, Joe Pietrafesa. Since becoming a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) in 2013, Josh has gone forward to investigate or assist in the investigation of many high-profile fires or explosions involving deaths, serious injuries, or significant property damage. He has testified as an expert in fire origin and cause, instructed and shared knowledge with his peers at the annual FACAP seminar, held a position as a FACAP board member since 2019, and been recently promoted to the position of Field Operations Manager at Jack Ward Fire Consultants, where he oversees the day-to-day management of our team of Certified Fire Investigators. Josh has demonstrated continued initiative and significant advancement in our field over a long period of time coupled with a desire to give back to the industry and help others achieve greatness as an investigator.
