A 16-year-old client, we’ll call Frankie, is coming up on 6 months sober. One of our Recovery Coaches, Erin, and Frankie have been working together since January. We asked her what’s made a difference in her recovery, here’s what she shared. ? How JA Recovery Has Helped Me ?: 1. Motivating me to stay sober and work the steps. 2. Literally saving my life. 3. Getting me connected in AA and helping me make sober friends. 4. Helping me meet my goals, even if they don’t have to do with sobriety. 5. Always supporting me and going above and beyond. 6. Helping me through tough situations and being a voice of reason. 7. Taking me to sober events and meeting with me consistently, no matter what. 8. Helping me work through a relapse. 9. Going to a meeting with me every week. 10. Always listening to me, no matter how many times I complain about the same person. 11. Actually caring about me, like an older sister would. This is why we do what we do! Recovery isn’t easy, but no one has to go through it alone. If you or someone you know needs support, we’re here to help. #TeenRecovery #ClientSuccess #SobrietyJourney #RecoverySupport #JARecovery

Erin Mooney, Interventionist & Recovery Coach at JA Recovery, has 15 years of sobriety and has worked in the recovery field for most of that time. She’s seen firsthand how to pull together a month, a year, a decade of sobriety: one day at a time. It’s a way of building self trust for when things are tough or great — either way. And there’s so much to celebrate along the way! If you’re ready to make consistency your superpower in recovery, reach out to JA Recovery. Navigating the holidays with a newly sober loved one can bring unique challenges. And there’s every reason to have hope that the holiday season will be filled with connection. It requires a little planning and some open conversations. Here are some simple do’s and don’ts to keep in mind to create a welcoming, supportive space for everyone: ? Do: Check in, offer non-alcoholic options, and show your support. ? Don’t: Focus solely on their recovery, pressure them, or leave them out. A little understanding goes a long way. Let’s make the season inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Need more tips on supporting someone in recovery? The outdoors can offer an amazing opportunity for a change in perspective. And that’s what we got when we had the chance recently to visit Spirit Mountain Recovery, a men’s rehab in Utah’s enchanting Eden Valley. Through evidence-based practices as well as outdoor experiential therapies, the wonderful professionals there provide inpatient support for dual-diagnosis substance use and mental health treatment. Our visit reaffirmed that hope for recovery is available in every corner of this country. If you or someone you love needs hope, please reach out to us at JA Recovery. We can help you navigate your next steps—out west or right at home. #RecoveryHappens #Addiction #Treatment #DualDiagnosis #JARecovery
