James Prevallet has been working in CRM before it was cool. He is a senior consultant and lead architect at J2, with a CRM background that pre-dates the existence of Salesforce! He became an expert in Salesforce in 2009 and soon created some of the largest Salesforce implementations in the world, with 25,000 licensed users. A strong team player, James strives for that “Wow!” moment with every customer and loves nothing more than helping others achieve greatness in their projects. We’re excited for more people to get to know him today! ___ J2: Who was your childhood superhero, and why did you admire them? James: Growing up, my father, Val Prevallet, was my superhero. He was an electrical engineer who designed radar guidance systems for missiles, which was amazing in and of itself, but at home, he could build or fix anything, and I loved to help out and learn. Literally, from fixing a clock, rebuilding a Ford V8 engine, building radio transceiver sets for model cars, a guitar amplifier... you name it, he could do it, and he invited me to help on every project. I remember when I was about eight or nine, we made an AM radio receiver from some spare parts he had lying around in the garage. It got me totally hooked on electronics, and he was permanently cemented as my superhero after that. J2: What is the topic of your TedTalk? James: My TedTalk would have to be about the Maya and pre-Columbian Mesoamerican history. A few years ago, I read a book entitled 1491 by Charles Mann about pre-Columbian Mesoamerican history, and since then, I have not been able to slow down learning about this subject matter. I was so taken by the topic that my wife and I decided to move to the historic town of Mérida in Yucatán, México to enable me to explore. I have explored nine Mayan archeological sites so far, and I have an extensive list of Mayan explorations planned in Guatemala, Belize, and three other states in México.? J2: What’s your favorite part of your job? James: I have been in the CRM space for almost 25 years now. I am one of the few in CRM today who can say I was in CRM before Marc Benioff even conceived of Salesforce.com. As such, I have been passionate about delivering CRM to help businesses increase their top line for decades. About eight years ago, I was transplanted into the healthcare space, where I have found it extremely rewarding to apply CRM principles to healthcare processes to help unite patients with caregivers to create positive health outcomes.
