Here’s to our beautiful planet. In celebration of Earth Day, we’re highlighting just a few of our projects built with sustainable measures, protecting our beautiful planet and investing in the health, wellness, and experience of the people who use these spaces every day.
● Mithun Pier 56 – This renovation project recently achieved the Living Building Challenge Petal Certification in Materials, Equity, and Beauty. Working with the historic 120-year-old structure, materials and other design elements were carefully selected to meet LBC program criteria for healthful spaces.
● UCLA Margo Leavin Graduate Art Studios – This renovation and expansion revitalized a WWII-era warehouse and achieved LEED Gold in the process. Glulam-framed sky-lit structures and the open-air courtyard and workspaces invite the outdoors in, reducing utility needs while increasing the energy of the space.
● Lake Union Piers – Working with Vulcan Real Estate and The Miller Hull Partnership, LLP, we achieved the decarbonization component of Miller Hull’s Emission Zero initiative on this project. This program targets the elimination of greenhouse gas emissions in their building designs. Together, we offset 100% of the building’s carbon footprint by investing in reduced HFC emissions in spray foam insulation and wind energy development.
● YMCA Kent – For YMCA of Greater Seattle, we transformed this facility into a LEED Silver certified environment. An abundance of natural light flood the interior through floor-to-ceiling windows, while magnificent Alaska yellow cedar glulam beams—eight feet tall and spanning 100 feet—create an impressive architectural statement above the pool.
● Sheila Kuehl Family Wellness Center – The first design-build LEED Gold v4 project for County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works. We used Solatubes to enhance daylighting and minimize energy consumption, plus enhanced exterior insulation for superior thermal efficiency.
No matter how big or small, we’re grateful for, and incredibly proud of, every opportunity to build sustainably—investing in people and our planet. Learn more about these and other sustainable projects on our website: https://lnkd.in/gczWJqXY
