Kenya’s National Assembly received an impeachment motion on Tuesday, against Deputy President?Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of corruption and insubordination. Stemming from a rift with President William Ruto, Gachagua’s impeachment would reconfigure the alliances underpinning Kenya’s government and shift political attention firmly to elections in 2027. Providing comment to Bloomberg, Connor Vasey, an expert in government affairs, business intelligence, and political analysis, discusses how Ruto’s falling out with Gachagua comes as the president steps up his courtship of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
