Connect and empower younger chemists globally.

关于我们

The IYCN aims to be inclusive in every possible way, welcoming members from the scientific community on a global scale. One of our specific goals is to communicate the opportunity to join and develop this network to chemists in every country. The current work of the IYCN is to reach out to chemists of all nationalities. A network such as the IYCN can only succeed if young chemists from all nations have the opportunity to join, network and participate. We have previously reached out to young chemists from many countries and continue to seek out ambassadors from the underrepresented. While many IYCN members will also be involved in other societies, a platform like the IYCN is a constructive route of bridging international borders. As of today, a truly global network of young chemists has not been established. Also, in most developing countries national chemical societies do not have key programs for the sustainable integration of students and early career professionals. It is our hope that the IYCN can develop into not only a network of young chemists but also a lasting system to foster growth and mentorship in chemistry.

  • A reminder post that IYCN is proud to be launching the new and improved IYCN Outreach Competition: Infographics on Green and Sustainable Chemistry. Participants will design infographics or similar concise content on any Industrial chemical process and show the benefits of using Green and Sustainable Chemistry for this chemical process. We are now seeking sponsors to help support the competition As a sponsor, your brand will receive significant visibility before, during, and after the event. Depending on the sponsorship level, benefits could include: Branding & Recognition: Your logo featured on event materials, banners, and digital promotions. Media Exposure: Inclusion in press releases, social media campaigns, and newsletters. For further information please contact us at [email protected] #youngerchemists #SDGGoals

  • Inviting everyone for another episode in the IUPAC webinar series on Entrepreneurship and Chemistry. This webinar will introduce you to three leaders in the field of green chemistry and their stories related to start-ups in this sector: Dr. John Warner, Prof. Philip Jessop, and Prof. Richard Blackburn. This panel discussion will aim to answer the following questions: ? ‘What are their top two pieces of advice for budding chemistry entrepreneurs?’ ? ‘What have been the biggest barriers or challenges that they’ve experienced?’ ? ‘In their opinion, how can we encourage entrepreneurship, especially in the chemistry community?’ If this interests you, register here: https://lnkd.in/eGPeeKjC #youngerchemists #SDGGoals #greenchemistry

??The abstract submission deadline for IUPAC 2025 is approaching, and Jo?o Borges and I are looking forward to sharing your work during the 'Towards a Sustainable Future: Engaging Society for a Systemic Change' symposium! ?? If you're working on promoting discussions, plans, collaborations or actions toward a more sustainable future, please consider submitting your abstract and joining us from July 14-19 in Malaysia! This symposium is part of the Global Conversation on Sustainability (GCS) ?? , a joint project between IUPAC and the International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN) dedicated to bringing together the scientific community towards a greener planet. During this event, you will be able to meet and hear from the amazing Fran Kerton and Jane Wissinger! ??If this all sounds interesting, you can learn more and submit your abstract here: https://lnkd.in/eMpS9w-s #GreenChemistry #Sustain4All

  • IYCN Presence at the First Meeting of the IUPAC Science Board Last January 16, 2025, the IUPAC Science Board held its first in-person meeting at the Royal Society of Chemistry's Burlington House in London. This event marked a significant step in shaping IUPAC's future strategy and vision. The IUPAC Science Board, established in 2024, aims to set scientific priorities, allocate budgets, and foster inter-divisional collaboration for the coming decade. The discussions will be presented for approval at the IUPAC Council meeting in Malaysia in July 2025. The IYCN was represented by the Chair, Dr Tien Thuy Quach, who is currently a Teaching Fellow in Pharmaceutics at Aston University, and she shared about the great opportunity for the IYCN Executive Board and IYCN delegates to be involved. IYCN delegates will be give more opportunities to join Task Groups for future IUPAC projects. The meeting emphasized international cooperation and the development of the chemical sciences. • Entrepreneurial vision in the non-profit sector: Catalyzing systemic change in chemistry education through green chemistry Join us on Wednesday 5 February 2025 at 2:00 PM GMT | 3:00 PM CET | 9:00 AM EST The path towards a sustainable society grounded in green chemistry and sustainability is often focused on changing practice within industry and catalyzing innovation and entrepreneurship within the technical sectors. New, greener technologies are required to address a range of sustainability challenges at the earliest stages of the product lifecycle and have found to have real, measurable impacts. In addition to the industrial innovation that needs to take place, innovation is also necessary within our educational systems. Without a pipeline of scientists trained with skills founded in principles of green chemistry, sustainability, and circularity, there will be little change. Beyond Benign is a non-profit organization that has been advancing green chemistry education throughout the education continuum for over a decade. As an organization that is mission-based, entrepreneurial vision is just as important as in for-profit companies – it is necessary in creating a sustainable organization that is capable of catalyzing real change. This presentation will share how a group of passionate individuals enable and empower others to be changes agents and implement greener practices within academia. This is the third of a series of webinars that are part of the IUPAC project "Chemistry Entrepreneurship" 2023-012-2-022", chaired by Prof. Bipul Saha and Prof. Hemda Garelick.
