“The role of youth in creating and sustaining peace is not just a matter of inclusion; it is a matter of necessity.” I Had the honor of chairing a panel at the International Youth Day 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York City organized by AFS Intercultural Programs and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malta to the UN We emphasized that true peace cannot be achieved without the active participation of youth at all decision-making levels—especially those from grassroots movements, marginalized communities, and underprivileged backgrounds. These young leaders bring invaluable insights, shaped by firsthand experience and a profound connection to their communities. It was a powerful gathering at the United Nations Headquarters, with leaders like UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis, AFS CEO Daniel Obst and Yumna Khan , Director of Youth Assembly, joining forces to champion the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda. #IYD2024 #YA28
