Great article on Ixana explaining what they are inventing: "Shreyas Sen, an Elmore Associate Professor of?Electrical and Computer Engineering?at Purdue University,?is taking lessons from the human body’s nervous system?to design chips that might get AI to work offline for a network of wearable devices without needing to frequently charge them."
A Purdue University professor, drawing inspiration from the human body, is developing chips that could enhance the energy efficiency of wearable AI devices. “With custom-made chips, we could overcome the energy constraints of wearable devices that prevent them from using AI to solve increasingly complex problems,” said Shreyas Sen. Shreyas Sen, an Elmore Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer #Engineering?at #Purdue University,?is taking lessons from the human body’s nervous system?to design chips that might get AI to work offline for a network of wearable devices without needing to frequently charge them. Currently, AI’s large power consumption is a major reason why it is only accessible using the internet. AI algorithms are constrained to data centers — massive facilities with servers that make up the internet. Devices such as your smartphone or smartwatch access #AI algorithms from data centers over the cloud. The tech industry is working toward creating “edge” technology, which is a chip that would run AI algorithms directly inside of smartphones or other devices instead of having to access these algorithms via the cloud. But doing something as complex as learning the whole internet, like #ChatGPT does, isn’t possible for a chip right now because it requires too much energy. Sen is custom-designing chips for wearable devices that would allow them to work with edge devices to handle more complex problems with AI using less power, similarly to how a human’s nerves and brain work together. No Brain Implant Chip Needed - Future Human-Computer Interaction ?? Make sure to comment your opinion! ?? ?? Wearable Tech: Ixana is at the forefront of advancing high-speed human-computer interaction (HCI), focusing on overcoming the limitations of power, data rate, latency, and signal reliability that hinder current wearable technologies. Their mission is to enhance HCI to be faster, more efficient, and more secure. ?? Wi-R Technology: Introducing Wi-R, a groundbreaking communication method that's 100 times more energy-efficient than traditional wireless signals. Wi-R creates an E-field bubble around the user, localizing the signal and drastically reducing energy usage, latency, and boosting performance up to tenfold compared to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. ?? Creating an Electronic Nervous System: Imagine an "electronic analog of the human nervous system," where real-time brain-AI communication is a reality. Ixana's vision includes transforming personal electronics with all-day AR headsets, seamless smart device pairing, charging-free wearables, and secure data transfer through mere touch. ?? A Call for Innovators: With 7 years of dedicated R&D under their belt, Ixana is now poised to bring these transformative HCI technologies to the marketplace. They are on the lookout for creative minds to join their mission in redefining the future of human and computer interaction. ??Learn more: ixana.ai ??Content Credit: https://lnkd.in/dmDg-PTX #HumanComputerInteraction #WearableTechnology #Innovation #TechIndustry #Ixana #WirelessTechnology #AR #SecureData #TechJobs #EngineeringExcellence #FutureTech #HCI
