We're thrilled to announce that the Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden has been honored with this year's Buildy Award by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM)! ?????This recognition is a testament to the determination and collaboration from the project team, owners and subcontractors who brought this vision to life. From 2020 to 2023, the visitor center underwent significant design changes, with glass and glazing as key elements, improving visibility and seamlessly integrating the indoor and outdoor spaces of the surrounding 80-acre garden. Our team's expertise was vital in implementing features like a full glass curtain wall and a striking lantern that stretches 50 feet above the main entry, creating a welcoming and expansive gateway. One of the project's unique challenges involved the motorized ventilation windows at the top of the lantern space, which required precise coordination and ingenuity due to the lack of landing platforms or floor access. This coordination was expertly navigated by IWR and Glaziers Union 513, showcasing our ability to handle even the most complex installations. We want to extend a sincere “thank you” to McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. for inviting us to participate in the recent 2024 McCarthy Charity Softball Tournament & BBQ Competition! While the weather had other plans, forcing a pivot, the event was a huge success thanks to the quick thinking of their team. The day showcased IWR’s teamwork, flexibility, and community spirit, with many IWR employees and their families volunteering their time. A special shoutout goes to Brad Rinearson, his son Quinn, Brian Kelley, and Doug Hantak, whose culinary skills delivered an outstanding dish that represented us well in the BBQ competition! While we didn’t take home the top prize, we couldn't be prouder of our team's efforts. And in true IWR spirit, we’re already planning for a victory in 2025!
