#BreakingNews: Today, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced it will begin the process for a second Central Atlantic Offshore Wind Sale, and publishing a Call for Information and Nomination in the region. Network CEO Liz Burdock said: Today's announcement from BOEM, and a subsequent second auction in the Central Atlantic, will amplify progress already made on regional supply chain development and ensure East Coast states are able to achieve their offshore wind targets. We applaud BOEM for delivering on its commitment to another auction in the Central Atlantic, which is needed for Maryland to achieve its 8.5 GW goal and bring more developers to the region. The agency's efforts further secure investments in critical supply chain facilities, such as LS Greenlink's Chesapeake, Va. cable facility and the Sparrows Point Steel facility in Baltimore." Recently came across a fascinating study that needed to be shared. It looks at how renewable energy impacts sustainable development, and the findings are super encouraging! The study analyzed data from 40 developed and 73 developing countries, and guess what? Renewable energy has a positive and statistically significant effect on sustainable development in both groups. Even better, the impact of renewable energy is greater than that of non-renewable energy. This means that as we increase our use of renewable sources like solar and wind, we're not only cutting down on pollution but also boosting overall sustainable development. It's a win-win! ??? With the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in sight, it's more important than ever to focus on renewable energy. Just a thought of the day: The future of energy is brighter than ever! Exciting Developments in Renewable Energy! As we continue to push towards a sustainable future, the renewable energy sector is making remarkable strides. In 2023, the world saw a 50% increase in renewable capacity compared to the previous year, adding 507 gigawatts (GW) of new renewable power. This surge is largely driven by solar PV, which made up three-quarters of these global additions. This momentum aligns with the ambitious targets set at COP28, aiming to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 and double energy efficiency improvements (https://lnkd.in/duR7V-2v) (https://lnkd.in/eMJHkP8m) This growth isn't limited to one region. Countries like China, the US, and several in Europe and Brazil have significantly boosted their renewable energy capacities, with China leading by commissioning as much solar PV in one year as the entire world did the previous year. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that by 2028, renewable sources will account for over 42% of global electricity generation.
