Thanks to IVY and Beri Meric for a great conversation. I love their recap of this episode which perfectly sums up the takeaways: ?? The more setbacks you go through, the more easily you recognize the signs. That doesn’t mean they’re pleasant or painless, but you can face them with confidence: I’ve been here before, and I made it through. You begin to understand the phases, how to navigate them, and how to come out stronger. ?? We need to apply that principle even when we aren’t in a setback. Transformation is often born out of necessity rather than desire. During a setback, motivation is at an all-time high—you’re driven to think creatively, explore new approaches, and find different ways to reach your goals. But when things are stable, that urgency fades, and so does the drive to innovate. ?? That’s why I always say we should try to remain perpetually in the “Explore” phase of The Setback Cycle. This phase involves testing new ideas, turning to your community for guidance, and identifying your strengths. Ask yourself: What am I good at? What transferable skills do I have that could set me on a new path? Maybe you’re switching industries, transitioning from a great employee to a first-time manager, or getting a big promotion to an executive role and wondering, How do I build on what I’ve done and explore what’s next? ?? Really, it’s as simple as continually trying out new things. Stay curious, stay open, and challenge yourself even when everything seems to be going just fine.

This fixation on where someone work (office or home or a third place) has little to do about the future of work. It is a big RED HERRING that illustrates the lack of really understanding the tsunami of change underway. Last week I had a conversation with Beri Meric the CEO and Founder of Ivy and also the Founder at Ivy for YPO on the Four Key Themes every leader and company should adopt to prepare for the age of Debossification including why rethinking everything including reimagining a new type of employee. "Systemic change isn’t about trying to 'fix' or 'change' minds.?Instead, it’s about giving people the tools and structures they need to improve." - Siri Chilazi and Irish Bohnet, authors of Make Work Fair: Data-Driven Design for Real Results
Leading Gender Equality Researcher | Harvard Kennedy School Women and Public Policy Program | Coauthor of 'Make Work Fair’
Iris Bohnet and I recently spoke with Beri Meric of IVY, where we explored why managing workplace fairness deserves the same rigorous, metrics-driven approach we apply to core business functions. Just as we'd never launch a product without market testing and clear KPIs, we shouldn't implement fairness initiatives without evidence-based design and measurable outcomes. Thank you to IVY for facilitating this important conversation with your community of business leaders. Looking forward to continued dialogue on evidence-based approaches to building fairer workplaces! #MakeWorkFair #DataDrivenDEI #WorkplaceFairness #OrganizationalDesign #DEI ????: https://lnkd.in/edfgW4Ev
