Innovating the Cleaning Services to tackle COVID-19 ????? During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hygiene Pro Clean Ltd (HPC) rose to the challenge of improving ambulance decontamination, securing a Contracts for Innovation award following the Welsh SBRI Centre of Excellence's challenge. HPC's ultrasonic atomisation technology cut fleet cleaning time from 331.5 hours to just 45.7 hours, helping the Welsh Ambulance Service respond more effectively during the crisis. HPC Managing Director, Jamie Borgeat, shared HPC’s progress since the award saying: ‘Thanks to the Contract for Innovation award we were able to go on and contract with Welsh Ambulance Services, and continue to work with National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU) to continue to develop decontamination services and deep cleaning. HPC’s journey didn’t stop there. They’ve expanded into forensic cleaning with West Midlands Police. With a next-generation ultrasonic atomiser on the way, they continue to push the boundaries of deep cleaning and decontamination. Celebrating innovation in education ?? - Children are set to benefit from a better standard of teaching through more face time with teachers – powered by AI – as a result of a recent competition, ‘Contracts for Innovation: AI tools for education’, funded by Department for Education and supported by Innovate UK The competition aims to create generative AI tools for evidence-based teaching, focusing on formative assessment to help teachers assess progress and provide feedback, drawing an array of talented ideas from across the country. The contributions received in response to this competition highlight the incredible potential for innovation to shape the education sector within digital learning and scaling STEM engagement tools. AI can transform lives and is already being successfully used across the UK within multiple industry sectors including the NHS. The AI Opportunities Action Plan, a blueprint to accelerate AI opportunities and plans to deliver national renewal, growth and a boost in living standards, has been unveiled by the Prime Minister on 13 January 2025 and will be implemented over the next decade.
