Real Estate Club at IU Indianapolis

This past week, the Real Estate Club at IU Indianapolis had the opportunity to bring together students and industry leaders for an incredible Real Estate and Entrepreneurship Week. The week began with a panel of real estate professional from all backgrounds and stages in their careers, including Emely Romero, Brian Prince II, J.D, Jacey Stuckey, and Rachele Cagle (Miller). We then hosted the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), in which we learned about the world of property management. On Thursday, we hosted Simon Property Group, where we learned about the capital markets side of real estate and lease accounting from Evan Marble and Jacob Bosse. A big thank you to everyone who attended these events and to all of our guest speakers who made this week possible. What a great semester of the Commercial Real Estate Workshop at IU Indianapolis. As the Workshop came to an end, we finished off strong. During the past two weeks, students worked on a Mock Tax Appeal Case. This case was based on a former Walgreens building, currently being subleased by Dollar Tree in Shelbyville, IN. Students prepared their case-in-Chief during the first week and then exchanged evidence with the opposing side. Last night, the Tax Appeal Hearing took place and teams presented their case-in-Chief along with their Rebuttal. A huge thank you to Joshua Rhoads, CMI at DMA - DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc., and Paul Jones at Jones Pyatt Law, LLC, for judging our teams, asking difficult questions, and providing their expertise. We also want to thank two former Workshop students, Cameron Beckner (Co-President of the Spring-Fall 2021 Cohort) and Slater Burge, for joining us and judging the groups. Congratulations to the winning Petitioner team- Cole Carnes, Quinten Carney, Thawng Thang, and Seth Barr,-for scoring the highest and breaking the Newbie winning streak! Thank you, Sara Coers, for working tirelessly for your students and providing opportunities that wouldn't be possible elsewhere. We are beyond grateful for all of your hard work and effort. The Workshop is a life-changing course that strengthens analytical skills but also fosters critical thinking and an appreciation for hard work and dedication. It wouldn't be what it is today without you, Sara. Thank you, Commercial Real Estate Workshop at IU Indianapolis students, for an awesome semester and a great mock property tax appeal hearing!

An incredible evening to remember! Members of the Real Estate Club at IU Indianapolis had the opportunity to attend yesterday evening's ULI trend talk at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. We gained valuable insights into the future of multifamily real estate and the growing momentum in bioscience research and innovation in Indianapolis. Many amazing speakers and industry leaders were present, including Spencer Levy, Vince Wong, Indiana University Indianapolis Inaugural Chancellor Latha Ramchand, and many more! The Real Estate Club at IU Indianapolis is proud to announce the successful completion of the Fall 2024 semester for our High School Outreach Program at Franklin Central High School. This semester has been an incredible learning journey for the students, and it has continued to bring awareness to the commercial real estate industry.
