The BRAIN Center is an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center that develops safe & effective Neurotechnologies.
关于我们
The Building Reliable Advances and Innovations in Neurotechnology (BRAIN) Center is an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center that began with Arizona State University (ASU) and the University of Houston (UH). This partnership has grown by adding two international University sites (Miguel Hernandez University in Spain and Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico) and three prospective national University sites (Georgia Tech, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and West Virginia University), allowing rigorous testing of efficacy, safety and long-term reliability of neurotechnology that would not be otherwise possible within the traditional 'silos' of academic, industry, regulatory and clinical communities. The BRAIN Center's mission is to develop safe, effective, and affordable personalized Neurotechnologies for diagnostics, restoration, enhancement, and rehabilitation of sensory, motor, affective and cognitive functions. We will pursue this mission by supporting innovative interdisciplinary research across the multiple dimensions of brain function and behavior to improve quality of life.

Congratulations brain4care from the IUCRC BRAIN CENTER !
Researchers from the Cleveland Clinic have published an independent study with evidence that supports the practical application of brain4care technology as a non-invasive method for estimating intracranial compliance at bedside. The article analyzed the agreement of non invasive techniques as quantitative indicators of intracranial compliance for clinical application. The parameters obtained with brain4care technology showed a strong correlation with invasive techniques, opening new possibilities for safer and less invasive approaches. ?? Jose L Contreras-Vidal, Ph.D. represented the IUCRC BRAIN CENTER at the Joint FDA-NIH workshop on Developing Implanted Brain-Computer Interface Clinical Outcome Assessments (COAs) to Demonstrate Benefit https://lnkd.in/g9RgUpTu A timely workshop to identify COAs for "neuroprostheses that interface with the central nervous system to restore lost motor and/or sensory capabilities in people with impairments in motor function and/or communication (FDA definition)". Some of the most important takeaways by Pepe: Communication is a basic human right and iBCIs can help to restore that right to whose with loss of function (Carolyn Baum) Need to democratize tech; validate tech, scale up tech, and increase access (John Ngai) It is important, and even critical, to capture the benefits of communication iBCIs to restore personal intimate connectedness and patient's joy as clearly demonstrated in communication iBCI study recently (Leigh Hochberg) The FDA has many documents, including clinical trial and BCI guidance and workshop reports, that we should all pay attention to; FDA is your first source of information when planning critical trials and they are eager to talk to, and work with, you (David McMullen) BCI design needs to match user’s needs and wants; there is a need to use more precise terms than “motor function” as there too many ways to assess motor function (Catherine Lang) #braincomputerinterfaces #medtech #neurotech #COA #neurorehabilitation #standards #innovation

Congratulations to Barrow Neurological Institute , a member of the IUCRC BRAIN CENTER , on their collaboration with Neuralink. Looking forward to learning more about the user’s experience .
The first participant in Neuralink's PRIME Study recently demonstrated the ability to use brain activity to command an external device. The successful procedure for Neuralink’s N1 Implant was performed earlier this year at Barrow Neurological Institute. Learn more: https://bar.rw/3VW9uQt

I am very proud of the dissertation work of Michelle Patrick Krueger , who successfully defended her dissertation today at the IUCRC BRAIN CENTER. Her research, covering 21 research iBCI groups worldwide and 67 people that have been implanted with BCI systems, leads to an actionable roadmap for Implantable Brain-Computer Interfaces for Communication and Control to speed up translation and commercialization of these systems! Stay tuned for the research publication. IUCRC BRAIN CENTER #neurotech #medtech #braincomputerinterfaces Congratulations!
