???? Say It With Your Checks ???? On the penultimate day of Black Business Month, I want to share a reminder and a call to action: Black Business Month is every month, so support Black businesses all year round. That means myriad things, including putting your money where your mouth is. It also means supporting each other, and providing each other with opportunities. Case in point: I was given the opportunity by pocstock to contribute to their instock newsletter for this month. ???????? Here's an excerpt: "What does “being the change” look like, you ask? The answer is simple. Right now in your circle, in your connections, in your spheres of influence, there are Black business owners that you know. Support them.?Support us. Not only with tags and likes, but also with funds and purchases. We cannot sustain our businesses with comments and kudos. We cannot pay our bills with exposure. Get active. Use some verbs: ? Hire. ? Fund. ? Donate. ? Promote. ? Purchase. ? Subscribe. Want to support us? Say it with your checks! Support a Black-owned business today,?and tomorrow, and the day after that..." To read the full piece, and the entire edition, link is in the comments. And because pocstock always has the sauce, you know they came out with a #BlackJobs collection. Make sure to check it out. #SayItWithYourChecks #pocstock #TheGreatExhale Thanks to Steve Jones and the pocstock team for amplifying my voice!

Tfw the code switch is set to the “off” position. ??? I understand why FLOTUS Michelle said what she said in 2016. I appreciate that now she’s no longer bound by the weight and requirements of the office—she’s letting ‘em have it. #BlackJob
Nothing to add. She said what she said.
Imma say this louder for those of y’all in the back that are willfully hard of seeing and hearing: IF IT DON’T APPLY, JUST WALK ON BY. You see the title of this here page, if you can’t be bothered to do any other due diligence. If the title alone makes you scrunch up your face, roll your eyes, or think to yourself, “but what about…?,” walk on. This ain’t for you. Put all that wasted energy you’re chucking over here to post some subtle as a skunk in a perfume store “all lives matter” propaganda to better use. You ain’t clever and you ain’t fooling anyone. I’d suggest unlearning your very loud and conscious bias, but I know that is a lost cause. So might I propose yoga, Pilates or whatever your favorite pastime is?—other than trolling other people, obviously. Go do that nowhere else. You are the reason spaces like this absolutely have to exist. This space is first and foremost for Black women—*gasp* I know, right?—AND for all allies, advocates, supporters, defenders, protectors, and lovers of who we are and what we stand for. This place is inclusive of anyone who gets it and isn’t offended when Black women are centered, not to the exclusion of all others, but, you know, for once. If you can’t understand the difference, all I got for you is the GIF below. #iykyk #isaidwhatisaid #psa

?? Kamala Harris vs. The Glass Cliff: How Black Women Leaders Face Unfair Judgments many Men never Will ?? "Approximately 10.4% of Fortune 500 companies are?led by women CEOs. But Black women hold just two of those positions:?Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of TIAA, and?Toni Townes-Whitley, CEO of SAIC. This means Black women represent a mere 0.4% of Fortune 500 CEOs, despite Black women making up about 7.7% of the American population. These barriers are indicative of the struggles faced by Vice President Harris in this year’s presidential campaign. As she navigates a landscape marked by glass ceilings and glass cliffs, her journey mirrors that of Black women in corporate America and the challenges we encounter. And I believe this underscores the need for systemic change to ensure that Black women can also rise to leadership positions. Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton sent letters to?51 law firms?and?10 recruitment firms?urging them to step back from engaging in DEI initiatives. In May 2024, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds?banned?DEI in state universities. In fact, 85 anti-DEI bills have been introduced in 28 states and in Congress, as tracked by the?Chronicle of Higher Education. These retreats by purported allies are harmful to the advancement and support of Black women and other marginalized groups, who know that the systems in place were not built with us in mind." https://lnkd.in/embbPYcu by Amira K.S. Barger, MBA,CVA,CFRE The need for active and vocal allyship has never been more critical. Silent allies and the backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives threaten to reverse the progress that has been made toward creating a more equitable society. This is a pivotal moment to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to lead and succeed. Critiques of VP Kamala Harris often focus on superficial aspects, such as her speaking style or how often she smiles. These criticisms, when examined closely, reveal biases that have little to do with her capabilities as a leader. It's essential to move beyond these superficial judgments and recognize the substantive qualities that make her a strong and capable leader. We must advocate for a future where leadership is not determined by outdated stereotypes or biases. This moment calls for collective action to ensure that everyone, regardless of their gender, race, or background, can reach their full potential and contribute to a more just and inclusive society. Y’all know what time it is! ???? It’s #FootwerkFriday and we’re dancing into the weekend! ???????? A sister-friend of mine reached out to check on me the other day. So grateful. ?????????? She said she hasn’t “seen” me on here in a while and wanted to make sure I’m ok. Deeply grateful to her and everyone who has checked in. There’s nothing like being surrounded with the right people; folks who truly have your back just because you’re you, and not because they want something from you. This is how good it feels. This is how much it lifts one’s spirits. I’m still here, kind of. Been going through some stuff, and keeping pretty quiet while I heal. More on that later, but in the meantime, enjoy a likkle dancey-dance to elevate the vibes. ???????? Happy Fri-yay!! Have an awesome weekend. ?? ?? afrodance.1 on TikTok
