New ITRC 2025 Project Teams - now open for membership! ? Green and Sustainable Chemistry: The team will identify best practices, compile resources on regulations, and develop a framework linking green chemistry, materials management, and circularity for toxic chemicals. This team will be led by Mimi Johnson and we are seeking an additional team leader! ?? Sustainable Management of Waste from Energy Resources: This project will address managing waste from energy production sources, both emerging and legacy waste streams, with a focus on renewable energy sources. This team will be led by Jessica Rayfield and Shannon Suggs. ?? Underwater Munitions: The project will focus on advancing science, technology, and guidance for detecting, classifying, characterizing, recovering, and disposing of underwater munitions and explosives of concern (MEC). In October 2024, ITRC had the privilege of delivering Soil Background & Risk Assessment training courses for ALGA attendees in Australia and New Zealand. With over 160 participants spanning consultants, regulators, academia, contractors, and property owners, the sessions provided valuable insights for professionals at all levels. J. Michael Penzone, P.G. is an Environmental Geologist at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Justin Meredith is an Environmental Fellow at Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and has served as the ITRC State POC for Tennessee and an active member and trainer on several ITRC Teams. J. Michael Penzone, P.G. is an Environmental Geologist Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, previously served as a Team Leader on ITRC's Passive Sampling Update Team, and is an active member on our PFAS and Vapor Intrusion Teams. Elizabeth Denly is a Vice President, PFAS Initiative Leader & Chemistry Director with TRC Companies, Inc. and was elected by ITRC's Industry Affiliates Program (IAP) members to serve as an IAP Liaison. David Tsao is the Technology Manager for bp's Remediation Management group and was elected by ITRC's IAP members to serve his 5th term as an IAP Liaison.
