Before the start of the new quarter, our chapter members took upon the chance to go to Washington, D.C. for the 2025 Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting! Partnering with Institute of Transportation Engineers - UCLA, we had the chance to involve ourselves in the wide world of transportation research with various plenary/subcommittee sessions, interactive booths, a career fair, and huge poster exhibition! We also had the chance to experience one of the many mixers-one of them hosted by ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals at their D.C. Headquarters! A very special thank you to Elisa Borowski who graciously funded us with the help of Professor Regan F. Patterson, Ph.D. & Dr. Adonia E. Lugo from UCLA's ITS department who provided us valuable advice with this first-time experience!

I had such a wonderful time at the 104th Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting last week in Washington, D.C. I was able to participate in and learn a lot from the several workshops, lectures, and poster sessions TRB had to offer. There were so many topics of interest, and I wish I had more time to go to each one!! Thank you so much to Elisa Borowski who funded ITE at UC Irvine to go to D.C., and thank you to the Institute of Transportation Engineers - UCLA who helped and organized our trip to be successful. I hope to go to TRB again in the future to learn more about our evolving world of transportation!

On November 22nd, we had the great opportunity to discover some of Orange County's great transportation agencies & engineering firms with Institute of Transportation Engineers - UCLA, USC ITE, and ITE at CSUF! Our platoon of 40 students first chose between a tour of John Wayne Airport or the Caltrans Traffic Management Center, to get our morning started. We then proceeded to Kimley-Horn in Santa Ana to have a lovely lunch & learn about their respective projects. We then headed to the folks over at HNTB who spoke on a variety of topics, and had a small social to round it off. While this was an action-packed day, our members will remember the fun & informative sessions they got to experience.

We commend and congratulate all who participated! But, are inclined to give a special shout out to the Institute of Transportation Engineers at UC Irvine team, Ryan Nguyen (UCI ITE President and 4th Year Civil Engineering Undergrad, Transportation track), Mia Martell (4th year Civil Engineering Undergrad, Transportation Track), and Benjamin Chang (2nd year Civil Engineering Undergrad) who placed FOURTH overall!

What a successful meeting! The chapter loved the chance to talk & conversate with Cathy Leong. More to come!!

Just about 2 weeks ago, the ITE Western District's Annual Meeting happened in Sacramento! Spanning from June 23rd to the 26th, current and former industry professionals, along with fellow students, came together for a half-week of learning, networking, and excitement! Whether it was catching up with peers, making new connections, or attending unique events like the Western District bowl and technical sessions, everyone had a fantastic experience! We were glad to see a strong presence from our past UCI ITE community at the event, and even some of our speakers from the past!

Two weeks ago was the Second Annual UCI ASCE x ITE Banquet 2024, and we had a wonderful time thanks to the planning done by the ASCE UC Irvine Chapter and our ITE officers. The night was full of great food, Civil Jeopardy, raffles, PSWS Recaps, and many memories with our friends and colleagues. Looking forward to next year's banquet! ?? Furthermore, Congratulations to our ITE Class of 2024: Andrew Lam, Samantha Moore, EIT, and our outgoing ITE President Francis Wong ?? We wish you three success in all you pursue, and we will miss having you all at our meetings!

Two weeks ago, our UCI ITE Chapter had the pleasure to attend and present at the 2024 ITE SoCal & OCTec Student Night. We saw so many great presentations made by other ITE chapters, and it was an incredible experience for our members to present, too. The UCI ITE chapter is so proud of Mia Martell, Xela Dinh, Denny Quach, and Ethan Y. for representing our Complete Streets ITE Project!
