A few weeks ago, I had a fantastic experience leading two workshops at the University of California, Berkeley, on effective public outreach strategies for #transportation projects. It was great to connect with hundreds of student transportation engineers and planners from across the Western United States during the inaugural Interdistrict Transportation Competition, organized by Cal Institute of Transportation Engineers and the Cal Transportation Team. The event featured workshops, a project fair, a career fair, transportation facility tours, and a main competition where students addressed real-world transportation challenges. Additionally, many professionals in the transportation field?shared their expertise and support, including representatives from Fehr & Peers, Iteris, Inc., Parametrix, Kittelson & Associates, Inc., and others. This week, Purdue ITE had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Lavan Teja Burra , Ph.D., for a thought-provoking seminar titled "How Does the Public Charging Network Fuel Plug-in Electric Vehicle Uptake?" Dr. Burra explored the critical role of public charging infrastructure in accelerating EV adoption and its broader impact on sustainable transportation systems. His research under the guidance of Dr. Nadia Gkritza is shaping our understanding of transportation innovation in the electric age.
